Well, since it is summer time, I thought this was a good time to see if anyone else here has ever noticed this.

Somehow, active Crohn's seems to act a bit like sunscreen for me. Not sure how, but I can stay outside in midday for hours and not pick up colour, no sunscreen needed. This was when I was TRYING to pick up some colour because I hate the sickly white colour I get. Now that Remicade is seeming to work and I am gaining weight, I am again picking up colour easily and burning again.

Anyone else ever notice this?

I managed to get a decent suntan being outside for a couple of days (as im a man i dont need suncream).

My skin is fish-belly white for the most part and burns very quickly - often with blisters. The burn turns tan then quickly back to white.

When my crohns is really bad, I don't leave the house much so don't have much opportunity to burn. Other than that I have not really noticed a difference between flaring or not when it comes to that.

Hot weather makes my flares worse, so I too tend to stay indoors. That being said, I don't burn hardly at all. I have dark olive skin and spent a lot of time outside as a kid (being from Florida I was always out in the sun). I'm very careful to put sunscreen on if I'm going to be out in direct sunlight, like at the beach, for any length of time.

I have always tanned very easily, even before Crohn's. I have a heat sensitivity now that I am on Imuran. I always make sure I have sunblock on if I know I'm going to be outside in the sun for a long time.

Hadn't connected Imuran to tanning/burning, but it might be there. I have been on it for the last year. Then again, I have also been outside a lot more because I am feeling better. Never really avoided the sun though. I literally have been in the middle of an aluminum fishing boat for 6 hours on a 30 degree C day (over 90 F for our American friends), no clouds, no sunscreen, hot part of the day, and no burn. No one has been able to explain that one to me. Two trips down to the Caribbean - no pre-tanning, only SPF 8 as the greatest amount and rarely used, no burns.

I'm usually pasty white and burn like it's cool. My husband who is Huron Indian, tans beautifully in about 5 minutes and it's always made me jealous. This year, I stayed out in the direct sun, no sunscreen, nothing for 3 hours and got NOTHING (normally I'd be fried)! Not a tan, not a burn, nothing. I started 6MP earlier this year and I'm sure it has something to do with it. I've noticed that the 6MP does carry a warning about being out in the sun but I don't know what happens if I spend too much time outside. Because NOTHING happened to me. Grrrrrrrrr.....

I was warned by my docs while being on meds it's not a great option to be under the sun!! I do cheat and get beautiful suntans which lasts longer then usual.

I was warned to stay out of the sun whilst im taking the Aza. As i used to use the sunbeds (i know very naughty and stupid) i am now back to my natural casper complection (like the true brit i am) Think i need a spray tan :)

I spend a lot of time outside working and recreation. I have to be careful with being on aza for the foreseeable future but I get along fine with a good coating of SPF 30 sport for the first couple of weeks. After that I dont use it unless I am exposing fresh untanned skin.

I used to be able to lay out in the sun and literally watch myself turn brown.....lately I tend to burn - in fact stupid me wore the wrong shirt today (after being in a low cut one yesterday too!) and am now paying for it with a nice burn on my upper back.....and I HAVE been out in the sun before this weekend!.....arms are nice and tan, so is my face....trying to get my legs a little color though - they don't seem to want to cooperate!
