Curious to know the length of time those of you that have had resections have stayed in remission after surgery. Roo had a resection in July 2006 and has been in remission ever since. It's one of those things as a mum I think (read worry lol) about everyday.

Thanks.

I haven't had a resection...but I'm going on 5 months after my colostomy...I know, not helpful...lol Sorry!

I had two years of complete remision after surgery in 1994.
In fact I thought I was cured and I left the treatments. Don't do that, there is no cure yet :(

I think they told me about 70% need followup surgery if they don't stay on drug therapy. with the new drugs we really don't know how low this will drop. There is just no enough time with newer treatment to see how well they work long term.

I know I need to stay on it. The intestine thing is only one part of my overall dysfunctional immune system.

Edit: I think that is the 10 year thing too. So it might be like "how many of us can get 10 years of remission".

I had a resection in April 2009 and was in remission until Jan 2010 - so a little over 8 mths. Sure hope she has longer success!!!
