I had my resection done Dec. 31st, the first few days afterwards was really hard. My surgeon was awesome, while he was in there he took out my appendix also...so that is something I wont have to worry about in the future:dance:

I have been having a terrible time keeping any food of sorts down, it just runs straight out, even just clear liquids still. My surgeon and GI doctor has said to just eat very small portions and give it time. In the meantime, I have lost another 12 lbs just in the last 4 days since I have came home from the hospital.
My GI doesnt want me to start back on my 6mp until I can keep a little bit more food down.

The best thing about all this is I have quit smoking it has been 14 days now and not even an urge!! So, I am praying the recovery time is as quick as it can be, trying to take it easy..but I am not one that likes to sit still very long!!

Hi. I know the feeling. I had the same op on the 14th but had a proctectomy too. I quit smoking then too. Keep it up mate and try to rest up.

Hi jami!

When I had my resection I was having a hard time with the same thing. I could hardly eat anything just because I never felt like eating, and then the diarrhea afterwards. ugh! It was bad. I know before my surgery I was going about 20 or so times a day, but afterwards, for a couple of weeks the diarrhea was so much worse, or I was vomiting. I, too, lost about 20lbs even after resection. I was slowly able to start gaining it back after about a month post-op.

It was rough, but hang in there. It will get better.

And congrats on the stopping smoking!
