Today DS was dx with sweets syndrome associated with IBD
By his dermo
Basically he has had two bouts of hive like lesions that last over a week at a time and the first time made him feel like he had the flu.

Has anyone else had this ?
Dermo told us this was rare and very rare for kids.

How long did it last interms of repeating cycles ?

New "hive" is back
So one week out from resolution of last batch
Need to wait to see if it's a normal hive or start of sweet syndrome
At least it's only one
Not a cluster

Sweets syndrome can be difficult to deal with. Steroids are often effective. The "hives" that you see are actually a cluster of neutrophils (a kind of white blood cell.) Keep an eye on all blood counts. Sweets syndrome can mess with them. Treatment of the underlying disorder is often helpful as well.

Good luck and best wishes.

Thanks
Dermatologist explained it as well.
The hive he had this week was actually a true hive
He is severely atopic as well with numerous allergies ( food drugs environment etc..)
And has idiopathic urticaria
Hive disappeared in less than twenty four hours
So all is well

No need for colchicine.

So it's back flu like symptoms plus a very red angry lesion
Call dermo in am prior to starting colchicine
Since the directions were vague as in how long to give it etc..

Good news even though it was red and ugly
And he had a virus
It was just a simple hive
Gone this am
Going to have to wait 24 hours to determine from now on
At least I didn't give the meds yet .
