Hey :)
So my new GI just prescribed tacrolimus ointment 0.1% (twice a day for a month) after examining me and discovering the cause of my intense rectal pain is yet another fissure. I have tried GTN cream, steroid cream, diltiazem cream for past fissures but nothing has really helped and they just keep coming back so he is hoping this might work.

I was just wondering if any one has any information on this being used for fissures (the info leaflet talks about use in eczema) and if anyone has had any success? Also, apart from sitz baths and lactulose, is there anything else I can do to promote healing quickly? I'm sick of this pain now :(

Thanks!

Hi, my daughter has had anal fissures for some years now as a result of her Crohn's, she had a temporary colostomy for about a year to help the rectum heal but it didnt help. The last couple of months she has had extreme pain when using the bathroom almost to the point of passing out!! she was at her utmost end when i found some information on here about Tacrolinus, I asked our doctor to prescribe it and almost immediately it helped. She still has pain but nowhere near as much. She puts it on after a sitz bath and the releif is almost instant, this really does work, I had my doubts and so did our doctor, but at this stage we try anything......good luck

Thank you so much for your reply!
I am so glad that this has had a positive effect for your daughter and it is reassuring to hear this may be my answer. I have already noticed a slight improvement so hopefully it will help even more with a bit more time :) x
