I am taking each day as it comes! I have had more bad days than good since being outta the hospital, but its ok... bring em on, with the family and friends I have supporting me I feel strong and know that I can tackle them!!

+1, Daisy! Way to go! I really hope that you start finding relief from the symptoms soon, but so happy to hear that your health doesn't define you. :)

Support from family and friends means alot and if you have a supportive partner or spouse, even better. I have great friends and my husband is also my hero.. good you have people with you.

I have the love and support of the greatest man in the world! My fiance was truely my rock when I was in the hospital. I can't begin to thank him enough for alll that he did for myself and our family when I couldn't!
My mom flew up from Arizona to help us out for the weekend which took alot of stress off of my fiance and I...

Oh wow Daisy, good for you!!! I'm so happy for you..........

You Can Beat Crohn's By Taking It A Day At A Time

I'm just responding to the statement made by Daisy, a recent member like myself, saying..."I'm taking each day as it comes". I love to hear of uplifting comments like this. This is absolutely true!! If you take this kind of approach in fighting Crohn's, you will be successful in either beating it or at least learn to live with it successfully.

I lived and suffered with Crohns throughout most of my teenage life. You might say, I lost my entire teenage life to Crohn's disease. Yes I have experienced everything, I mean everything that people write about in these blogs (maybe more); the unbearable stomach cramps, the weight loss, the embarrassment of the frequent trips to the bathroom, along with the gas, and smelly stools. I've had to deal with having little or no energy to do anything, having to sit home while other people were out having fun. I experienced first hand the humiliation of walking around looking like a concentration camp survivor. I was fired from jobs because I just didn't have the physical strength to do my job.

But I decided not to give up, but chose to take a ...each day at a time attitude. I also decided that I would not give up on the fight against Crohn's, choosing to make use of every tool and resource (including my faith, family and friends) that I had at my disposal. Ultimately, things finally turned for the bettor. I did ultimately beat Crohn's Disease...or maybe just outlasted it. I received a life saving surgery that effectively reversed my Crohn's. That was 39 years ago. I have been relatively Crohn's free and drug free since that day. My most resent colonoscopy...just today, showed hardly any remaining signs of the disease. Of course I don't assume that it is gone forever. Like Dracula, Crohn's can rise up out of the grave to attack you again if you don't remain vigilant in your fight against it. But the attitude of hope and faith and family have worked for me and never let me down. I believe it can work for you too. I now wear my Crohn's as a badge of honor...an enemy that I successfully beat on the battlefield of life.

Those "One Day at a Time" bumper stickers are not just for AA members! We should all live by that motto!
