:sign0144:My name is PixieGirl. I am 13 years old I have crohns and I wish I were an only child. My sisters tell the whole world about my crohns and don't bother to see how I feel about them telling people. It's my body I want to tell people when I am ready to tell people, not have my siblings tell everyone and I have to answer stupid question like "Is crohns contagious?"
I've told them a million times not to tell anyone.
Most of my friends avoid me and think I'm going to make them sick too.

Hey PixieGirl :)
I'm sorry to hear you are having a tough time with your sisters.
Have you tried sitting them down with an adult to explain the reasons why you don't want them telling people? Maybe they would take more notice if there was an adult in the conversation.

I understand what you mean about not wanting other people to know. I am nearly 2years post-diagnosis now and I'm a lot more comfortable with the disease so I am open to talking about it and answering questions.
But when I was first diagnosed and embarrassed I prepared a speech for if anyone asked what was wrong. It went a bit like 'I have a stomach condition that means I have to take a lot of medication and can't eat or drink certain things. It's not contagious so I won't give it to anyone else but some days I may not be well enough to do things.' and everyone just shrugged it off and treated me like I was before my diagnosis.

My little brother is a lot younger than me and I found he would tell people too but he did it because he was worried and wanted some support too. But we taught him to say I had a poorly tummy so it wasn't as embarrassing for me :)

I hope some of this has been helpful, you're not alone
Hope you are well x

Thanks. I'll try to teach my sisters something like that too. that way they won't humiliate me.
