I'm very nervous about starting it but nothing else is working so I'm ready to try it. Anyone been on it? Did it/does it help? How quickly did you feel better? I'm very defeated right now since nothing has worked not even prednisone which I'm still trying to taper off. I'm scared of being on something that suppresses my immune system though. I have little kids and asthma and always seem to be sick. Do you feel like you get sick more often? Any side effects that you've noticed? Anything else I should know? Thank you!!

My daughter who has Crohn's and Ankylosing Spondylitis is on Simponi. Her Crohn's has (thankfully) been fairly easy to control while the AS is severe and out of control, which is why we switched her to Simponi.

She has had NO side effects and about 4 months in is starting to see some benefits to her joints. No increase in infections or anything like that and she is on a pretty high dose. She thinks the shots are MUCH easier than Humira - they don't sting or burn in the same way.

The only hard part is being patient. We know it takes her a while to respond (took 5-6 months for Humira, less for Remicade) so we're still hoping she will have more a response.
Good luck!!

I am on simponi for my UC and I noticed a difference in my bowel movements right away and started to feel better. It didn't last for long and my symtoms got worse as I was nearing my next injection. But after 3 months on it I was in remission and felt better than I did since being diagnosed a few years ago. It may just be the right combination of medications finally started working for me but I'll take it. I haven't noticed any added side effects. I don't get sick more often but I've always had a strong immune system.

My 14 year old is on it & this has been the best biologic by far for her. No complaints. No pain injecting, ease of use, no side effects for her. It hasn't been enough to save her colon, but we will continue after surgery with it to keep her small bowel inflammation free. I wish this was the 1st biologic we got to try. Life would have been so much easier!
