I woke up this morning with the same ol have to go to the rest room...well during my morning go I always get pain...well this morning I noticed blood a lot of blood! In the toilet bowl ,well when I went to wipe it was everywhere , well it freaked me out! I have had crohns since 1992 and never had blood! It was just dripping out! I am waiting for my GI to call me back ...I have had stomach pains all day...back pain too. Back in November when I had my ct scan they noticed I had some inflamation in my colon too. I am so scared....what do you guys think?

That is typical for me when I am in a bad flare. The last time it happened I had a bad cold and took cold meds that had ibuprofen in them. The Dr. Told me I had to be careful when taking any OTC meds. It is always alarming to see blood dripping from your rear into the toilet! Hope you feel better soon!

That doesn't sound good at all if you had a lot of blood in the toilet. If you don't get your GI on the phone tonight and it happens again with a lot of blood I suggest going to the emergency room.

If this is not your usual condition, get it checked out. Changes of that magnitude do indicate that there has been a change that you need your doctor to address. Please don't let it wait too long!

If I don't have my GI on the phone tonight I will have him in the morning..I do have a colonoscopy scheduled on Tuesday thank you all for the responses , I am really freaked out my stomach is really descended right now and sore ,if I start bleeding again I will deffinity go to the emergency room tonight

Are you sure it's not hemmorhoids? Sometimes mine bleed and it looks like alot of red blood in the toilet and scares me.

There are three ways that I've heard of blood in your stool, and two that I've experienced. First and most serious is dark, almost black, tarry stool, which often indicates serious internal bleeding. This calls for a trip to the doctor or ER right away. (Thankfully I've never had this)

Second is bright red bleeding, which for me when it happens usually accompanies straining and is usually (though not always) caused by a fissure of some sort just inside the anus. Should see doctor, but these often clear by themselves in my experience within a day or two.

Third is harder to describe, it's red blood, but not bright, sort of 'marbled' in your stool. I had this recently and it was caused by some sort of lesions in the bowel that were cauterized during a colonoscopy. Also merits speaking to and treatment by your doctor but apparently not a get-right-there-now sort of emergency.

:( I'm sorry, Momnsyd. Please let us know how things go once you've gotten in contact with your GI or gone to the hospital.

The bright blood could also be a hemmeroid

yes, if this is not normal for you definitely get it checked out. If your doctor cannot see you or doesn't return your call, go to the emergency room.

I bleed during flares. My crohn's is primarily in my colon and I get bleeding ulcers with inflammation. Yes, it could be hemorrhoids, but if it's a ton of blood and your doctor already said there are some issues in your colon, I might doubt hemorrhoids are the problem unless you have been going a great deal lately.

Let us know how everything goes

Well today had my colonoscopy , found out I am on the road to remission. Yay but found out I have a fissure :( OMG so pain full he did give me creams for it.i have never seen so much blood! My question is how do you get fissures without be constipated? I am never constipated! Always have a loose bowelmovement.....he did take biopsies so waiting to hear about them...Ty all

Glad to hear things are looking up. How scary that must have been for you. The unknown and varying symptoms of this disease is very frustrating. Take care.
