I have questions about testing.
This should be long...so sorry!!
I posted alot about symptoms and all of that crap, but for those who haven't read my other posts I'm going to give a breif history.
8 years now and counting I've had stabbing pains in my stomach around my navel, diarrhea accompanied by abdominal cramping...which is actually relived by defecation.Things like hot dogs, beef, and eggs seems to provoke the symptoms, but sometimes I get them for no reason.I also get burning pains in my chest and stomach to an unbearable amount of pain.SO....

I went to a g.i. who did a ct scan and it shows mild mural and mucuosal thickening of my small bowel loops and terminal ileum. So we go in thinking I have Crohn's and we do an upper g.i. and a colonoscopy. At which time the doctor tells me he took 50 maybe more biopsies....!!!!!
And also tells me I have hemoroids but everything else looked fine, but they took the biopies to test them for different things....What gives.!.
I feel crazy. How can c ct scan show one thing then a colonoscopy show that everything is fine?Should I be asking for other testing? If so what? How can it be possible for everything to come up fine on colonoscopy? But not ct scan???? Doesn't a colonoscopy show alot more than ct scan does?BTW I get my biopsy results back this Wednesday...I need help though.I'm on my last limb here.

I'm sorry bubblesox, I can't help. My CD was diagnosed on colonoscopy - I was awake for it, and I could see the diseased parts, it was really clear. I've no idea what a CT scan would show.

Hopefully someone here has something useful to say, wish I could help

You are right that a colonoscopy is far more accurate than a CT. A CT is just less invassive and gives the doctor an idea of where he should take further measures, which he did.
There are other factors to look at: SED rate, blood counts, and there is a prometheus lab test that looks at whether you have the genetic markers for IBD.
Although there may not have been any visual evidence of ulcerations the biopsies that the doctor took can show a past disease state. The results would make statements about the architecture of your cells.
Also, I would ask your doctor to do a simple celiac test to rule our Celiac Disease.
Eight years a long time to go through all of this without a diagnosis. Insist that they continue investigating to determine the source of your symptoms even if they are able to rule out Crohn's.

My blood work has came back normal already(sed rate and white blood count...CBC in short) as well as the celiac test a negative.
Hence where I am at an abosolute breaking point. No food allergies either.Talk about frustration huh?

A small bowel series, and that's all there is left. So, I think Crohn's is ruled out now :)
and if the small bowel series comes up clean I guess I'm going to a shrink.
Even I am starting to believe that I am crazy.
IBS doesn't fit my symptoms and it looks like it will be my diagnosis again:-(
so maybe it is psycho symatic? Like I'm sub consciously making myself sick because I'm psychologically damaged? Lol Life's a b.... but I'd honestly rather be crazy than have a horrible disabiling disease like Crohn's. I feel so badly for you all. :-( And crazy really is a better diagnosis. It's curable...lol.

Well from what I understand they are not supposed to be able to reach far into the small intestine with the scope, your large intestine may be fine and that is what he may have seen.
