I have been looking for a Crohn's forum for a few months now but the ones that I have come across either don't get much traffic or the latest post is from years ago.

So I have had pain/symptoms for a few years now...going back about 5 years altogether. Was put through the ringer 3 years ago and told it was fibromyalgia. AKA....we don't know. I then had a baby and my symptoms worsened. I was put in the hospital on numerous occasions due to hyperemesis gravidarum (extreme vomiting) that didn't act like the typical deal. GI came in and said that after I had the baby, if I was experiencing the symptoms still, they would scope me. Well dealing with a newborn, my 2.5 year old, work, and whatnot, I just kept pushing everything aside.

Finally, in January of this year, my symptoms were so bad that I went to the ER. I was having really bad pain in my lower right abdomen, radiating to my back. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea...the whole works. He refers me to an OB specialist who performed diagnostic laparoscopy on me because he thought it was either endometriosis or adhesions from my 2 c-sections. Turns out that nothing was wrong. So from there I went to doctors for: kidney, liver, gynecological cancer, appendix, gall bladder and then finally, the GI team.

From what it looks like from my scopes, I have inflammation in my small bowel and small non-bleeding erosions in my gastric antum. (?) My labs came back as:
S.Cerev IgA (ASCA) = 12.5 (normal)
S.Cerev IgG (ASCA) = 41.2 (high)
ANCA IBD Screen = Negative (normal)

Also I had high glucose, low BUN, low Creatinine, and low potassium.

I go back to my doctor for her to explain everything on the 27th of this month and until then am on a chicken, white rice, and water diet.

Everything that I research screams crohn's, does this seem like a pretty high possibility? Should I be asking something else? Any other labs/tests that I need to get done?

Thank you so much in advance,

Melissa

Welcome. I am sorry for what you have been through. You will find a lot of support here. It won't give you answers about whether it is Crohns or not but you might ask for a fecal calprotectin test. It will measure the amount of inflammation in your gut. I hope you get answers soon.

Welcome to the forum. There's obviously something amiss or you wouldn't be here. It's not right that we make assumptions until you see your GI.I would make a list of symptoms, duration, diet etc.and also any questions you might want to ask.We have an "Undiagnosed" thread that you might be interested in,and will give you some ideas of relative questions you might want to ask at your apt.

Welcome to the forum mdithrich! :) I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with so much pain for so long. It's really hard to say if it could be Crohn's because it mimics so many other illnesses. When you had scopes done they should have taken biopsies and those results can take a while to come back. I imagine your doctor will discuss them with you during your appointment.

I honestly hope that it isn't Crohn's but I do hope that you get some answers during your appointment. Keep us posted and if you have any other questions feel free to ask anytime. :)
