The confuses me

I go through this monthly. I'll have a period of a week or two which I have no blood in my stools then I pass a lot of black blood then begins the bright red fresh blood for anouther couple of weeks. I had a scope done on Monday and it showed the areas of bleeding one area a big spot of the wall was covered in bright red blood but fr the most part it's just inflammed. I'm just curious why it seems to "heal" for a week or two then goes back to normal??

Our insides heal quicker than the outside. What part of that was normal? Red or black its still blood.
