Ugh...I'm starting the process of finding a new doctor this morning. I've been having issues with my current doctor's office for awhile now, but this latest voice mail was the last straw.

I've been having a bad rash and itching for the past 8 months or so. We've tried all sorts of things to try to fix it. But still nothing is working. I called the office last week to tell them that the latest attempt hadn't worked either, and asked them (in a voice mail of course, I don't think it's possible to reach a live person when you call) if there was something else we could try or if I should see a dermatologist or another specialist. I missed the call when they called back, so I had a voice mail from the docs assistant. I was so offended by how she worded everything!! She actually said "No, we aren't giving you any other meds, no more prescriptions, nothing. Yes, you need to see the dermatologist. Hope you solve your problem" The way she said everything felt like she was accusing me of being a drug addict, just out for more meds! It's not like I'm asking for narcotics! I just want to get rid of my itching butt. And the end when she said "hope you solve your problem", really got to the heart of why I need to switch doctors. It shouldn't be just my problem. If I could fix it on my own I'm pretty sure I would have done that EIGHT MONTHS AGO, but I can't so I go to them for help. I need a doctor and staff who actually cares.

I just made an appointment with a new GI. I'm crossing my fingers that I will like him. That's the part that I don't like, it's like going on a blind date. I wish there was a way to interview a doctor without having to spend the $100-200 for an appointment. Also wish there was an easy way to see if you like the medical assistants and the office staff, since you spend as much or more time interacting with them as you do with the doctor.
The medical assistant is the majority of the reason that I'm leaving my current doc. She's horrible. She doesn't check her messages often (or at least doesn't respond to them quickly) and when you are having problems, it's not like you can always afford to wait 2-3 days. Then she messed up with my Humira refill. The special pharmacy told me they had contacted the docs office three times and hadn't gotten a response, then I called four times. I finally got them to send the refill script after calling a different doctor's assistant and complaining about the other lady. All of it is ridiculous. They are supposed to be helping me feel better, instead that office is just adding to my stress! I'll be writing a letter to the doctor explaining exactly why I'm leaving the practice, so hopefully she will be fired, but I'm not counting on it.

I have an issue with one of the staff members at my son's doctor, too. When we meet on Friday, I am going to bring it up with him and if he doesn't take it seriously, I may need to switch docs, too. :(

Some of the nicest doctors have some of the worst staff. I don't get it.
