Thrush!

HI , I am waiting to get the results back, but it looks like the throat problems I have been experiencing is Thrush.
In July I had a sore throat- looked like Strep, ER doctor gave me Penecillin. Aug-somewhat better, but not gone away.
End of Aug- back to ER- tested for Strep- Negative. Said I should be seen by Ear, Nose and Throat DR.
Throat feels like lump in it, somewhat red. I have horrible heartburn, indigestion. Food taste horrible!
Got appt to see Throat DR.-Sept 24th- UGG. Throat getting worse. Whole mouth sore.
Today- Called my Family DR- went in- he took a look and said pretty sure it is Thrush. He called in a prescription but I can not get it till next week when the results of the throat swab comes back positive, whick I know it is going to. He is away all next week.

What am I suppose to do in the meantime? Hurts to swallow-has gone into my esophogus. I did go buy some organic yogurt to take. Proof I need to be on it all the time!

Hi there, wow I have thrush from time to time and didnt hurt my throat, but if you have Gerd or Hiatus hernia or acid reflux, all that can cause alot of pain in the throat. It may not be thrush but if your throat is sore and Maalox helps the pain, it coats and soothes it. As for the thrush, since you are in Canada, I can tell you the Oral Canesten (a pill) is amazing for that and yeast. Try it, go on Canesten.ca (I think) and they have a 5 bucks off coupon. Hopefully that should help. Drink lots of water too. :hang:

Try the Maalox too, the berry one only I can tolerate, and get the one with gas and bloat, extra strength! Good luck let me know how it goes!

can1001 my daughter had esophagul candida (thrush in esophagus) it went untreated for 6 months before they caught it. it was also very difficult for her to eat. the only thing we found for her to eat that didnt seem to hurt her so much is applesauce. she lived off applesauce (chilled or room temp) and few baby foods (she is 2) for months.
she did get better once they gave her a 6 wk treatment of the medication. it is VERY difficult to get rid of....but once the meds started working her eating really picked up so i hope the same goes for you!

Thanks Kelley, I believe this has been going on for months also. At least snce June. Food tastes horrible !!!! I am trying to cut back on sugar intake.

YES it is Thrush...... Dr`s office called today. I went and picked up my prescription tonight. Relief is in sight !!!!!!

What did he give you for medication?

He gave me Mylan-Fluconazole 50 mg. Take 3 tabs now and in 1 week repeat.

Hmmmm I had a liquid, but can't remember what it was, my brain aint working. But you swish it in your mouth. Didnt work, I just doubled up on my VSL, it helped. Hope it works for ya, keep us posted!

I believe that liquid is called magic mouthwash (what a creative name lol) was it pink? I had to take it one time in the hospital and the nurse said what it was and I asked what the real name of the medicine was and she said "magic mouthwash" and showed me the bottle. I almost fell out of the hospital bed
