Hi - I am new to this forum. I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease 22 years ago. I am now suffering terribly with Sigmoid colon issues. I am currently in the worse flare up ever. I am due for a flexi sigmoidoscopy next week but I have now got to the stage where I have had enough of the pain, blood, mucus, tiredness. I won't go on as you know what it is like. I have made up my mind to talk to the specialist and ask for a sigmoid colostomy. Has anyone recently been through this please as I would like to know if it has made any difference to their lifestyle. Thanks.

Hello there! I just wanted to welcome you to the forum, very good to have a new member :)

Also, you may get a better targeted response if you post your question about colostomies in a different category. I believe that there is a specific category on the forum related to colostomies.

Again welcome aboard I wish you the best!

Hi Lyndoe and welcome :)

I'm so sorry to hear you're suffering so much. That's terrible :(

We have a surgery forum located here you may want to check out. Others may have the same surgery or you can start a thread dedicated to it and hopefully get some insight.

Might I ask what medications you've tried?

All my best to you.
