I would definitely not recommend having a fistulotomy done anywhere near the holidays. While it's nice to let people off work to spend a week, a week and a half with their families, it makes it supremely difficult to get medical treatment at a doctor's office.
I had two fistulas laid open on the 19th and the colorectal surgeon made it clear my issues would not go away without the help of remicade or Humira. I know this, I agree, finally, but can I get anyone on the phone from my GI doc? Of course not. I'm trying not to be discouraged even though I feel pretty awful. I've even managed to make it through several shifts of work, but it is so hard when it seems like the healthy version of me is so very far away. Right now the only place I want to be is curled up in a ball under the covers.
