I would definitely not recommend having a fistulotomy done anywhere near the holidays. While it's nice to let people off work to spend a week, a week and a half with their families, it makes it supremely difficult to get medical treatment at a doctor's office.

I had two fistulas laid open on the 19th and the colorectal surgeon made it clear my issues would not go away without the help of remicade or Humira. I know this, I agree, finally, but can I get anyone on the phone from my GI doc? Of course not. I'm trying not to be discouraged even though I feel pretty awful. I've even managed to make it through several shifts of work, but it is so hard when it seems like the healthy version of me is so very far away. Right now the only place I want to be is curled up in a ball under the covers.

Im sorry al..just hang in there a bit longer once you receive the Remicade or Humira you will be feeling a ton better..

Al, I know it is tough. Once you start the biologics you will begin to feel better. I know.

I went to my 2 week follow up with the CR on Friday. I finished my 14 day script of Flagyl 2 days before and was feeling a bit better stomach-wise. (I have such a tough time with flagyl... I'm not convinced it isn't rat poison) I had to wait almost 2 hours to see the doctor! I was not in the best shape by that point, having to sit in waiting room chairs for that amount of time. The CR immediately put me back on antibiotics, but Cipro this time around. So far I have been able to tolerate it.

My appointment with my GI doctor is tomorrow. I have never been so excited to see him. ha. Hopefully we can get the biologics started very soon. I'm hoping for this week. Crossing my fingers for luck on that one.

Thanks to all who are reading this and sending me support. It helps knowing that you guys are out there and know what I'm going through.

Fingers crossed for you! Once you see him, it shouldn't take long at all, I wouldn't think! Also, very glad the Cipro is working better for you!

Cipro is an awesome antibiotic. It its used to beat back anthrax! I hope it works well for you. Good luck with the GI appt.!

I'm a month removed from my procedure and it doesn't feel like I've had much improvement. It has been very slow to heal. I'm only (only, ha!) on entocort and Imuran. My wound is still open and drains daily, though it doesn't seem as angry as it used to be.

I am still not on Humira. My doctor's office failed to submit the paper work, which was only discovered after I finally called them 2 weeks after my last GI appointment. Spoke with the pharmacy yesterday and now we're waiting on approval from my insurance company. Argh. All so I can take some shots that I am slightly terrified to take in the first place.

I have little to no energy. I'm not sure how I'm making it through 40 hour work weeks. I'm lucky that I have some great coworkers who help me out... carrying things for me to keep me from taking the steps and getting up and down so much etc. But overall, I am exhausted and often feel overwhelmed. I'm sure that there is a light at this end of this tunnel, somewhere, but wow it feels far away.

It's so frustrating that they're putting you through this. :(

Hopefully now that everything has been submitted, it won't be long.
