Johnny had blood in his urine, protein too but no white blood cells. They checked for kidney stones with ultra sound and he was clear.
His ended up being kidney disease (likely IGA nephrapathy) They said he will likely always have blood and protein in his urine.
Because there were no white cells they did not think there was an infection. They tested his urine for the type of protein and one of them was albumin so they know the kidneys had inflamed glomeri that allowed protein to leak through, albumin is a larger one so they knew others were present without testing for them.
DS's Nephrologist and GI had lots of conversations about whether meds could cause the blood and they both felt it could not. 6mp is actually a treatment for IGA which is why they aren't doing a biopsy because they would likely treat him with what he is already on. It would be our only way to confirm exactly what type of kidney disease he has and possibly how severe it is but the risks didn't seem worth it (Nephrologist agreed) Fwiw, the nephrologist said the blood was not enough to cause anemia or have any affect on Johnny's health. As long as things don't get worse he will be fine and we just have to be careful of meds, tests, etc that may be hard on the kidneys.
Nephrologist mentioned some kids have protein in their urine and it is normal for them, blood he did not feel the same way about.
Hope you get some answers soon, this particular ride is not fun. ((((Hugs))))
