So ive been to ye old chemist shop today and come home with a veritable bag of medications. Thank the lord for the PBS, you aussies know what Im saying here.

Ive never had Celebrex, or Tramadol, so I was wondering if anyone could give me any personal experience of side effects.

Obviously I have read all I can read on the issue, but I like to ask of peoples personal experiences as well, it helps me to evaluate when might be the best time of day to take said meds in regards to my work schedules and blah blah blah.

Please include the things they dont tell you in the brochure......cos those are usually the ones that I need to know about!!!!

cheers, and have a great day

You have a diagnosis of Crohn's, yeah?

The two drugs are from different classes. Tramadol is a type of opioid and Celebrex is a NSAID. Whilst opioid's are safe to use as far as side effects to the actual structure of the bowel is concerned NSAID's are not and are generally contraindicated with IBD due to the risk of GI bleeding and associated erosions that may occur.

I don't have any experience with either drug but hopefully someone will be along that does. :)

Who prescribed the Celebrex?

The IBD clinic, they said no to all nsaid's unless its celebrex cos thats apparantly ok. And to be fair, they didnt actually prescribe it....i rang up and said, so im off to gp to get some pain relief, what do you recommend i ask for? those were the two options the clinic people gave me, so my gp gave me scripts for both, i have yet to take any yet because i do still have some early starts at work to get through so was just after some expeeriences first

and yeah, I got a Crohns Disease diagnosis two years ago, and ive been relatively healthy apart from the diagnosis time, and its been only recently *last 6 months* that Ive had any real drama

I have lots of experience with tramadol. I thought it was a miracle drug when I first took it. Long lasting pain relief, gave a pleasant "up" feeling, and to me, highly addictive. If you are careful, it can be very helpful with crohn's. For me it helped enormously with cramping and the big D.

Tramadol, or the version I have here in South Africa, Tramahexal, is great as a pain reliever, but I only use it when the pain is really bad. It can be addictive, but if you use it carefully, it can really help relieve the symptoms. If the abdominal pain is really bad, I take one Tramahexal and two Bevispas (the anti-crampies as I call them) and that combination really works. :)

Tramadol makes my eyes go weird and unable to focus (no book reading for me!)
Worse though - gives me a fever and makes me vomit.
Same thing happens to my bro when he takes it.
Hope it works better for you.
