Hi
Just wondering if most people tuck their bag in or leave it out and cover with a long t shirt like I do.

I get worried if I tuck it in it will reduce the amount the bag can hold and it will fill up quicker?

Also I have a waist band which helps the bag feel secure but have not worn it much because I'm worried again it might press on stoma and prevent / reduce output from exiting the stoma.

I always tuck my bag into my pants (over my underwear but under my pants). I've never had a problem with that blocking it's ability to do its job.

if im wearing low cut jeans i leave out and cover with a tight long top to hold it in place. if i tuck in the trousers/ leggings HAVE TO be high waisted enough to cover the whole bag, if anything i think having the bag entirley tucked in makes it feel like its filling up slightly slower. i would never just have a waistline that stops in the middle of the bag, i think it would cause leaks.
i always wear a waistband, and on a night out i wear extremley tight control pants, never had problems!

It depends. At night I always have it hanging out. If I'm wearing loose bottoms I'll tuck it in. Anything tight I won't because the output doesn't go down into the bag. Instead I tuck the bag up into a waist band which I put over the top.

So I do a combination of both, although it may not work as well for women.

I I leave the bag outside my slacks but tuck in an undershirt, that keeps it from flopping around and while still providing support.

I always tuck it over my underwear and under my pants. I haven't had much problems with things moving down the bag and the occasional time I do I will just push it down and everything's fine. When I go to bed at night I'll wear my bag on the outside so things don't get restricted. I also wear a belt with my bag so it keeps everything in place. I don't think I could wear my bag on the outside of my clothes as I would feel insecure about that.

I always try to wear trousers or skirts that go right up to the waist, although they are sometimes difficult to buy when hipsters are in fashion. I do get tired of explaining to shop assistants that "almost to the waist" won't do, and if they persist with attempting to persuade me to try on trousers that I know won't be suitable, I go into long and graphic details of what might happen if I have a tight waistband pressing on my stoma. They soon back off.

I wear hipster underpants and wear my stoma outside my underpants, inside my trousers or skirt.

Tuck mine in. All of my bag will sit under the waistline so it makes sense and works well for me. :)

I tuck mine in my hipster underwear. I like the extra security. If I left mine outside of my pants it would hang down past my crotch. I'm short waisted I guess.

:sign0144: What do you mean tucking in a bag? Have I got another treat installed when I finally get diagnosed? :(

@tashliannex some crohns patients have to get ileostomies, and we use stoma bags whoch can be kinda uncomfortable especially when sleeping. It's like a small pouch attached to the stomach.

Ohh, that sounds completely rubbish. Sorry to hear that you all have this and thank you Sparkles for explaining xx

At first i wore mine under a shirt but over my jeans but now I tuck it under my jeans or trackie bottoms. at night time i just let it go wherever it lands.... lol

I wear very loose high-waisted pants and tuck it all in. I have never used a belt. Soooo.... my days of wearing tight jeans are over with. I hate the feeling of having anything "squished". My girlfriend suggested I try maternity pants. Anyone try this?

When I was really bad - before having an ileostomy - I used to wear maternity overalls. They were very comfortable and didn't put any pressure on my gut.

So nobody uses the special ostomy underwear that have a built in front pocket?
How about the binders that completely cover up the abdomen?

I use a support belt/cover that I made myself, for daily wear and oneIhad made for me by a designer I know for occasions when I need to properly tuck in my shirt and need allower profile for suits and what not.

Because mine are custom they don't fit into either category.

I dont use anything special for underwear. Although if I could wear a blooming corset to suck my gut in enough, I surely would! (abdo surgeries KILLED my tummy! :ymad:)

I ONLY wear baggy high waisted clothes... I haven't worn jeans since I got my ileostomy four years ago!!! I find that jeans cause a leak cos they rub on the bag, so I feel better when its all covered up.
Maternity pants are a good idea :) v comfy!
What's the special ostomy pant look like? Ive never heard of it!!

Mine, too! I used to have a flat tummy - now an unsightly bulge on either side of a wide seam. :(

I have some of the pouch covers from weircomfees, and they're great! I wear them at night to keep Oscar in place, as well as when I'm intimate with my finace. I've also got some of the underwear from ostomysecrets, and I like them, but don't wear them all the time. I usually just wear Fruit of the Looms....lol

Over my low-rise jeans but under my shirt.

I really don't care if anyone sees my bag but it makes me uncomfortable when it is more than 1/4 full.

I have never really liked the low rise clothes myself. I love the whole pin-up look. They make lingerie and swimwear that look sexy and hide the bag. Tucking it in isn't hard at all really, just as long as the pants aren't too tight. :p
