Hi All,

Has any one suffered a twitchy belly amongst their long list of problems?

I am still suffering from painful bum, now getting pain in middle of belly, but in addition getting these wierd twitches, like its alive. Perhaps I was a belly dancer in a previous life? Seriously though I haven't felt this rough for years, and nothing seems to be helping. I have underactive thyroid and so think it could be connected with that, but its just another wierd thing to add to the list.

Thought this was the best place to ask.

Going to see the GI monday, and want to go armed with as much info. So thanks in advance.

Hope you are having a good day today.

Yay! I thought it was only me! Sometimes it moves around so much I could have sworn I was pregnant, though I can't be.

me too!! thought i was pregnant when this happened too! even got my partner to feel and he was a lil freaked out lol.
i think its maybe air moving around?

I've had this happen on and off for years - well before it was possible that I could be pregnant.

When I was young someone compared some of the Crohn's symptoms as being the cruddy parts of being pregnant without the joy of having a baby in the end. The severe pain of Crohn's was compared to contractions, then the jumpy thing as a baby moving. Then there's all the joint swelling and strange pains that erupt out of nowhere.

Now, I have never been pregnant, so I can't say for sure. I will say that when the jumpy thing hits, it's such a shock that I either jump or yelp. My poor family doesn't understand that part in the least! I just tell them that 'I had a jumper' and move on.

I guess this happens more than I thought, but I also had never asked anyone about it either.

Hi All,

Thank you so much for replying, maybe it is a Crohns thing and I shouldn't be blaming my thyroid instead!! Yes, it is like when you're pregnant, thats it exactly spot on. So glad I'm not going mad, and not the only one!! Definately something going on in there but who knows what! Thank you again for taking the time to help.

Yes its just air, perfectly normal, it may also be that you have IBD and IBS which causes irritation and air.

Ive experience my belly twitching only when the doctor is messing with it and listening to it...prob because of a pressure point or something lol

I get those spasms too! Sometimes, I jump and yelp, like silvermander, and everyone looks at me all worried. But it leaves as quickly as it came! Other times the spasms keep going like having a baby in me that has the hiccups! One night last week, 4 or 5 different spots of my colon were spasming all at once, but at different intervals. It felt like fireworks or something. I couldn't get back to sleep for an hour, because it kept going and it was making me nauseated. Has anyone else had that happen? Or is that just UC?

Hi Jessi,

Thanks for replying. Mine come and go like yours, normally no pain, just jumping about, and really odd times as well. Just like a baby moving around. Weird, but I feel like I'm normal now - I'm not the only one thanks to all the good people that have replied. I've never felt nauseated with it though, but sounds like yours are more intense. I wish you well, and hope you are having a good day today.

Yeah, that was pretty intense, but it has only happened that once. All the other times are just one or two spasms, or just "hiccups" in one spot that last a few minutes at the most.

It's so strange that I can name the exact locations of the twitches. I wonder if the twitches are from stool passing an ulcer? Or gas passing one? Weird, stuff...

Stay healthy!
