Hello everyone, I need some help.
I’m a sixteen y/o girl and my bone age is 14. I used to be insanely skinny when I was undiagnosed because I couldn’t absorb any nutrients. That was three years ago, then I started receiving treatment (prednisone, remicade, pentasa, imuran, surgery); I gained a lot of weight - especially on prednisone. I’ve grown a little bit, but not enough. I’ve been working out and eating healthy (not starving myself and not overeating) for arounnd half a year, but I can’t lose my extra fat. I’m thinking that my body is holding on to it for when my bones grow. Is this possible? If not, any ideas of why I can’t lose the extra fat? If so, any ideas on how to speed up my bone growth so I can lean out. I always used to be really lean and fit. I’m a super short and small person so the extra fat is really noticeable on me. Thanks for the help!

Do you see endocrinology?
They can help with growth and weight
How long since you were in pred?
It can takes 6-12 months for growth to start after pred

As far as weight
My oldest non ibd kiddo put on close to 50 lbs for almost a year with next to no growth
Then 7 plus inches all at once

Most kids gain weight prior to growing

Ds was dx at age 7
And is trying to get off pred now at age 14
So that he can grow and get rid of the puffy face ;)

Good luck

I saw an endocrinologist a year ago, she didn’t want to give me anything (said I should catch up). I was last on pred over a year ago, I had surgery last August (2016), so I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it. I have grown a little bit, but my bones are still 2 years behind.
