Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and I was hoping some of you lovely people could help me!

For the last couple of months, I've been suffering quite bad and only recently have I started to think maybe I have an IBD?
It started with tonsillitis and a throat infection last September, but since then I've been constantly exhausted, moody, I've been getting sores on the inside of mouth, and now more recently my bowels have become a problem, it feels like I'm bloated, and then have diahoerra and I'm constipated at the same time? And when I go to the toilet and have a BM, there's blood in the toilet. Have ales experience intense cramping sensation. It could be something completely unrelated to an IBD but I would really like your help! I turned 18 in February and I'm quite scared!
Thank you

It sounds like that could be the case -- I know there's some people on here who get constant switching between diarrhea and constipation in the same day. Have you gotten any blood tests done for inflammation, or asked about a colonoscopy?

You may want to check out our undiagnosed section, as well as the support group for people who are undiagnosed! I'm also moving your thread from General IBD to Undiagnosed to see if more people can help you there. :)

I have a hospital appointment for the end of July, and I'm hoping a colonoscopy will be suggested, and I will more than likely have blood tests done then, it's just so far away :( Thank you for your help!

Keep an eye on the blood for now, as well as symptoms of anemia! If you do experience that it may be time to visit a doctor if not a hospital, even if it's before your colonoscopy.

It does sound like IBD could be a possibility. Not you alarm you but it is not "normal" to have those symptoms. Hopefully you can find a good doctor that helps you get to the bottom of your problems. I've had some doctors run a few tests and come back clean and they just send me on my way without fixing the problem. I encourage you to get tests done and listen to your body!

Thank you! I've been to my GP and they've done blood tests which have come back clear and just told me I must have a stomach bug or something but I know it's not just something that is going to go away :( it's so scary!

This seems to be the case all over the forum. Blood tests - inconclusive. So what's the point in them?

I'm going for my blood tests on Monday and results on Friday. No doubt they will come back clear from what I've seen here.

Really hope you get a diagnosis. Blood is NOT normal like other members have stated. Keep us updated, and join the undiagnosed support group. You can go to it by clicking the link under my info over....

<<<<< Here, lol.

If it's any consolation, i've had consistently raised inflammation markers for years.
Drs alternatively take them seriously or ignore them depending on agenda.
Still undiagnosed I am proving to be a very tricky case.

It sounds like it could be IBD.

My GI said some people have terrible symptoms and not much going on once they scope, and others have fairly mild symptoms and their gut looks like a war zone. The only way to know for sure is to have them scope you, and they usually wait things out a bit before they do. It is true that you can have all the symptoms you are having and it ends up being a virus, or just going away.

Dr.'s often wait for you to push the issue. It's how they know how bad your symptoms are and how bad you are feeling. If it's not getting better keep pushing. You might want to ask about a fecal calprotecin test as well. it is a stool test that is much less invasive and much less expensive. It is how they monitor my son's crohn's.

Got blood taken today, and my GP said she's going to order scopes. She prescribed "Deltacortril" that I have to take for a week and check back in with her, anybody heard of it?

Hi Allegra, it is a steroid used for inflammation. If it is IBD, you should respond quickly to the medication.

Went back to doctor's for test results today, I have anaemia, which isn't a surprise but the doctor actually said "I think it's Crohns"
Such a relief to have someone actually have an inkling about what's wrong with me!

Yesss! Getting closer to having a diagnosis. For the anemia: are you able to get iron supplements in the meantime for it? Otherwise it's probably caused by inflammation/internal bleeding though if it's Crohn's, but it's still good to try treating in the meantime.

I'm glad your getting closer hun but make sure the GI knows you've been put on a steroid before scheduling your scopes.
Steroids can mess up the results of a scope. I believe most GI's want you steroid free for six to eight weeks......this of course is if your undiagnosed.

I'm being weaned off the steroids for the next couple of weeks so I'll be off them in time for my scopes :)

Yes, the GP prescribed iron tablets for me to take :)
