I'm brand new to this forum, but I've had IBS and ulcerative hiatal hernias since as long as I can remember. None of the MD's I had tests with seem to help me and the medicine I was given had so many side affects that I was taking way too much medicine for someone in their 40's. So I decided to do some serious research to see if I could help myself. I started with my diet. I was way overweight and was always on low fat diets. That obviously wasn't working for me so I threw out everything I had learned and started from scratch. Dr Atkins was the farthest from the low fat craze as I could get. I started reading the labels on all the low fat foods and everything was filled with sugar. Sugar is a horrible substance for IBD And IBS. I went on the Atkins diet and it took 6 Weeks of being very strict on myself and following the diet to the T, but all my issues went away. The side benefit was I lost 100 pounds. Then I became lax with my diet and began putting sugar back into my diet along with GMO products and all my problems came back again. This time I was in my 50's and going through menopause, Hashimoto's thyroiditis (autoimmune disease) along with other autoimmnune problems. This time I went to a an MD that dealt with natural resoluntions to health probleMs, drug that kills the bad yeasts. This time he put me on Nystatin and a pro biotic
