Hi all,

Hope you're all having the best weekend you can be?

I just wondered what people's experiences are with undigested food in the stool?! It's been a symptom of mine for a little while now and is particularly bad with lettuce, salad etc, although I'm not sure if it's just because salad bits are easier to distinguish in the toilet bowl!

Any thoughts'd be appreciated, thanks again people!

There are many foods that will come out the same way they went in.

I can't eat any vegis or fruit right now, but when I can, they always come out the same way. Corn, blueberries, oranges - all are very noticeable. It's just the way it is.

The other thing I find is if I drink grape soda, then everything comes out green.

I'm missing chunks of my gut, so i don't know if that's the reason it happens, but it always happens without fail.

Thanks for that I appreciate it, nice to meet you too by the way!

I'm trying to gather up all my facts as I've got my first follow up appointment next week, my problems seem to be within my small bowel as thats what a CT scan or water meal thing showed. (Sorry for the lack of terminology, I'm most definitely still learning!)

Do you mind me asking how you were dianosed? I'm curious as I had a colonoscopy just over a month ago that showed normal.

Thanks again!

I struggle with that too, but mostly only when im in a flare.
When I have any red meat it comes out undigested and it nearly kills me with pain too...

Not good....

Welcome to the forum tho, and nice to meet you!

For me, it's lettuce or salad too. So I never eat them. Popcorn is horrendous... I'll eat it one day, and five days later poop out popcorn kernels. Painful, too.

One time I had some red velvet cake and pooped red. Kinda scarry, looked like blood!

I also have ingested foods with red dye (strawberry soda) and had a moment of uncontrollable fear that I was passing blood. Then I remembered what it was.

My mother-in-law lover getting cupcake cakes from the store for the kids' birthday parties. Invariably they have some sort of disgustingly colored frosting. After the first time I always remind everyone (even though I'm the only Crohnie) that remember the color as it will come out the same way it goes in. If course my teen sons are mortified when I say this.

I was diagnosed when I was 8 after a lot of symptoms that didn't look Crohn's related. When my weight dropped (38lbs at 8 years old), the did an upper GI, small bowel follow through and looked at my family history. My mother was diagnosed with Crohn's when she was 12, so my diagnosis was fairly easy. I'm scheduled for a colonoscopy in less than two weeks, but that's just to see what things look like in there. I feel grateful in many ways that I was diagnosed so young. It has made life a lot easier for at least I know.

Thanks again for your input people.

It's not nice to know that you suffer too but it'a good to know thar I'm not alone in this! A little off subject but I actually woke with a smile this morning, for the first time in months I had no morning pain! Unfortunately this didn't last and I'm now assuming my usual morning position on the sofa with my legs in my chest!

Hope ya'll have a good week people
