Hi Everyone, I thought I would give you an update on my flare. Many of you have been so kind and giving suggestions and advice, I greatly appreciate it.
So, the flare started May 1, symptoms were not too bad, I have had way worse flares. So, went on prednisone and could not get the mild symptoms to calm down, knees were acting up. So I ended up taking a high side of prednisone for most of May, June, and beginning of July. Inbetween there I decided to go on humira weekly, I was doing bi-weekly before the flare. Finally started to feel better and could do a slow taper off prednisone. I also take imuran with Humira. This weekend I finished the prednisone. My stomach feels ok and my knees feel ok. I don't feel great, but not awful either. I recently saw my GI and he thought we could possibly try MTX instead of imuran but was hesitant because my body handles imuran very well and I don't want to ruin that. So, here I am. Now, here is my question, do I switch meds to maybe get to feeling great, or stay with what I am on and feel ok. The way I feel right now does not impact my daily life, but I don't feel like I could eat a big salad and not feel it afterwards. I see the GI mid October next, so I guess I will wait and see how I feel then.
Ugh! decisions!
What I am afraid of, is I feel fine now, if I switch meds and it doesn't work and I start feeling worse or get horrible side effects, all while trying to get to great. When I can stay with what I am doing and have no side effects and feel ok.
thoughts?
