Urge to go to the bathroom after just going

evening all,

ive got a consultant appointment next week, but ive noticed a gradual decline in my health/crohns the last few weeks which i cant seem to work out why.

what ive noticed:

-a weird taste in my mouth, hard to explain but like im thirsty and i need something like a fanta, lilt to take the taste away
-ive noticed that when i go to the loo, rougly after 10mins i feel the urge to go again?!
-my back side is red and very sore again. last time it cleared up completely after my consultant put me on antibiotics, budesonide,pentasa, without the azathiprine.
-pressing my stomach just below the ribs feels tender and like ive been punched but ive got no actual pain.

anyone help me out or got any ideas?

im a j-poucher, after having colitis and then dx'd with crohns late 2010.

No I haven't any suggestions but you may want to tap into the stoma sub forum? They might be able to help.

Hey Mr. Bed - can't help ya out but I just wanted to offer support as I am also formerly UC with a j-pouch, reDX with Crohns in June 2009.

been worse but keep hope

i was on all kinds of meds and two years ago i was hospitalized for 46 days put on remicade and was workin fine till i started to feel bad again than they closed the treatments from 8 weeks to 6 weeks it has been a great treatment for me good luck and god bless

Wouldn't codine leave a taste? I would think so...maybe I'm wrong...

I get the weird taste and dry mouth and craving for something like Fanta, Tango etc.. from Codeine. Sometimes a strange like salty taste, but not actually salty. It's so weird. Asked my doc and he said Codeine. So maybe that's one down???
The tender under the ribs I get after I've eaten something filling. Like pasta, potatoes, all stodgey sorts of things. Maybe that?

just really pi$$ed off with this now, as i was going great guns in and around xmas and as i write this ive a strange taste in my mouth and my bum is throbbing from being so sore im sitting at a slight angle?!

as mentioned ive got a consultant appointment shortly so im going to see what he can do as i cant carry on like this - its doing my head in as one minute im looking at remission and some respite and now its all gone a bit 'pete tong' as they say (bad)...!

i will let you guys know what my consultant says as im sure it will be helpful to someone along the line.

How are you blood tests/liver function? - how often are you doing them, still on weekly/fortnightly?

You're on the PPI as well... it's not a metallic taste you're getting? dark stools/tarry?

monthly blood tests as taking azathioprine. codeine isnt doing as well as it usaually does either,in the way that its not making me go more than 2hrs without going to the loo?!

its a kind of metal taste, seem to have gone off drinking water as well and need something with a taste?!?!?!

really struggling with the sore bum, just hope its nothing major and will clear up after hospital appt.

I get a really dry mouth with soda cravings and an odd taste from Pentasa as well as codeine. I try to drink a glass of water for each glass of soda I drink. Hope this helps!

saw consultant today and he seems to think it could be 1 of 2 things:

1) it could be where i have restarted my daily 40mg of esomeprazole for acid pains which can cause D.
or..
2) pouchitis (inflammation of my j-pouch)

ive put on a couple of pounds again which is good, iron was a little low and ive been on ferrous sulphate before so he's going to book me in for an infusion. staying on 100mg azathioprine, pentasa and codeine when needed, plus starting me on 500mg ciprofloxacin twice a day for the inflammation.
