I have a lot of rectal pain, and sometimes it extends into my vagina. Sex is out of the question (poor hubby). It just feels like someone is squeezing my vagina. Is it just inflammation from the rectum putting pressure on the vaginal wall? I had my hubby check things out and he felt a knot on the back wall, but he's never really felt for knots in there before, so maybe it's always been there?

FTR, I have moderate to severe Crohn's throughout the colon, as evidenced by a scope a week ago. The GI did not see any fistulae.

Is it worse when you are standing? I had a tugging sensation in that area, and it felt like my vagina was going to fall off. I didn't think it was related to Crohn's, and I had it checked out at the gyno office, but it wasn't a prolapse.
I did some kegel exercises and it went away. I'm still bothered if I stand too much, but the kegels really helped.

I have this type of pain but have a nasty fistulae (I have been spelling this incorrectly for years!). I was hoping to get some input too. Good luck.

I have painful sex...I feel like maybe because of the inflamation he is hitting something that should not be pushed...I don't know...its hard to explain. If I had a fistula I would have pain without sex too...or some other symptoms right? I do feel something when I sit...but its not pain...stuff has moved I think...from all the BM's and pushing...I guess it makes sense.

It could also be tensing of the muscles. Basically you get nervous about having sex, because you think it will hurt, your muscles spasm at the crucial moment (because your muscles always do this when they anticipate pain). Lo and behold, sex hurts. Thus fueling the cycle. There is a technical term, but I forgot it!

Maybe taking painkillers or something beforehand would help break the cycle?
