Anyone on a vegan diet (raw or not)?

I switched twice to a vegan diet thinking I was doing good. Both attempts to become vegan flares up my Crohn.

The first time, I admit, I was not really good to ensure that I got all the vitamins & supplements I needed. But I was very good on my second attempt.

Still, I got the same result.

Anyone? :)

Being vegan did not work for me either. I stuck to it strictly for 8 months and my flare gradually went from mild to severe over that time.

There are many different diets that help crohnies, the problem is that its different for everyone. Gluten free, dairy free, paleo/makers diet, specific carbohydrate diet are a few of them.

Sarah has been in remission for over 5 years, following surgery, and 12 months ago she went from vegetarian to vegan. Thus far she has had no issues with it.

I agree with Lydia, what works for one Crohnie is certainly no guarantee that it will work for another.

What she said. :)

I tried being vegan but it didn't work for me. A paleo-ish, SCD-ish, gluten-free, low-sugar diet with probiotic supplements works for me.

I am on a vegan-ish diet. I still eat fish and I DEF am not raw as I am still healing so I have cooked veggies. I find I am successful when avoiding bread/wheat/rice, raw greens, raw nuts...but again I am healing. I believe in the power of fresh veggie juice, bananas, avocados, and cooked veggies. I also LOVE kombucha and think probiotics, b12, and iron have done wonders for me. I agree that you have to find what works, but if it's stressing you out take baby steps! stress revs up inflammation like no other. maybe try gluten free one day. no meat one day, no dairy one day etc. and see how you feel. I personally believe if you are seeing mucous avoiding dairy is HUGE.

xoxo hope you are feeling well.
