So C finally found the nasty bug that has been going around our area. It started with a weird bm and vomiting so I initially thought flare but by the end of the first day it was a dry cough, sore throat, body aches and headache. By Day 2 he was running fairly high fevers and the cough became a wet cough. His Ped said virus(neg flu, neg strep) and gave him some cough syrup. So we are now on day 4 and still a cough, fever(but more low grade) and headache. He has slept alot and hasn't been able to eat much at all, but I'm pushing fluids.

I've been in touch with the GI nurse since it started and called today to ask about giving the MTX tomorrow if he still had fever. GI said wait two days after last day of fever to give MTX.

So what I forgot to ask is do I adjust the next MTX schedule as well? He usually takes MTX on Friday, if it ends up being Sunday do I then wait til next Sunday to give MTX or give on regular schedule of Friday? Thanks for any replies.

Oh and btw...I hate viruses, I don't think there is a surface left that hasn't been covered in lysol!!! The fam thinks I'm a mad Lysol woman!! NO GERM IS SAFE!! Ha!

Oh poor guy!!! He must have felt awful the last few days! But glad it seems he beginning to get over it!

Aorry, no advice re mtx.

Tesscorm, when I first called the GI nurse(before I could see that it was viral) she wanted him on clear liquids and was going to bring him into the office the next day. She has already said the GI wants to scope C and will if he doesn't make it the five weeks this time so I thought we may be leading up to a scope.

I have my fingers crossed we make it the five weeks but if not C has said he is ready to be scoped to find out what is going on and I think I'll be ready too.

I hope all goes well for the duration. Although, I suppose this virus could confuse thinga a bit (hopefully not!!). Hopefully, he's over the worst of it and can get back on his mtx schedule soon!

Hope he feels better soon, yuck that he got the crud. Sorry trying to remember what we did when Jack was on mtx and darned if I can think of it. I think too many days of no sleep are making me fuzzy headed.

Ha Jmorgers4, "the crud" is exactly what the Ped called it, and the med asst called it the creeping crud.

It was so good to see those awesome lab results, btw!

Sorry to hear he isn't feeling very well. There have a couple of really bad bugs here too. The cough/flu one has been awful and it lasts for around 3 weeks, with tiredness being bad as well. Hope things settle down and he feels better soon.

Yep, it is a catch-22, I feel so bad for him because he is feeling so poorly, so I'm making soups and broths with all the love and care but then, I sort of want to just jug them and toss them into his room so as to avoid this virus...HA!
