Hi,

I did the abdominal MRI four weeks after I did a colonoscopy. I did not know I had clips on my colon but I got so scared after I read lots of stories regarding the MRI safety, so, I am wondering was it possible that my colon got damaged because of strong magnet from MRI? Could anybody has the similar experience? Do I need to do some tests to confirm everything is all right? Thank you and appreciate all advice.

I'm supposed to have scopes, which I had last June so I wouldn't think I should have to have it again. But, this is a new doctor and he wants me to do those again. Also, the same day he wants me to have an abdominal MRI. Is this dangerous?? I hadn't even thought of that until I saw this post. I'm new here and trying to figure out what is normal here and what isn't.

JkBay...did the doctor tell you why you had clips? Were they related to the colonoscopy or something else? I think you would have known it if there was an issue with the MRI and metal....yes, the magnet is THAT strong!

A lot of metal used nowadays that is left in the body is made of titanium - the screws in my husbands' neck, the heart monitor implanted in my mom's chest etc.....both have had MRI's with no issues.

Amy75 - I don't see any issue with both an MRI and scope on the same day - do you know what order they will be done in? The only issue I might see is if you are still having urges to go to the bathroom...you will be stuck on a table for a half hour or more.....

I had a MRI in the last couple of years. They detected metal that was left in from a resection. That didnt stop them from doing the MRI.
