I am allergic to acetaminophen, and from what I read you shouldn't take Ibuprofen when you have crohn's...what do I take for a headache? I have pain killers for when my abscess is acting up, but I only take them in extreme pain. This headache is more of a nagging pain, not extreme lol

I think undertanding why you have a headache is the best way forward. Are you dehydrated, stressed, noisy environment etc? and fixing those will be of more benefit then masking the symptoms

Personally I dont take anything for a headache. If its a particularly bad one I will rub some tiger balm on my forehead (anything menthol will help)

I believe it is a PMS headache, based on timing and experience. I am having a cup of tea and and some mini eggs, that seems to be helping :)

I guess you meant "not good" looking at your 2nd sentence :p

Actually, I meant drink lots of water in addition to having some caffeine. Sorry for the confusion!

(I think your little tongue guy needs a lollipop!)

I too get headaches somewhat often, and though I used to take advil (no longer, as it's a no-no for bad bowels) I now use 1/2 tramadol for ones that don't go away with caffeine and hydration. Tylenol has never worked for me, so I never take it. Caffeine is believed to be the reason excedrine migraine works so much better than normal aspirin/tylenol FYI.
The general consensus is that dilation of blood vessels in brain=headache(migraine), so caffeine helps by constricting bv's. Love the tiger balm idea!

I also try to avoid acetaminophen, as I have some liver issues and acetaminophen is metabolized in the liver. So I usually just deal with it when I have a headache. If my arthritis is acting up, I put sports cream and/or my heating pad on it and that works okay. Be careful with caffeine, it can be a headache trigger for some people - for me, caffeine triggers migraines, so I avoid it (except for chocolate, because come on, it's chocolate!).

Are mini eggs chocolate? I haven't heard of mini eggs - are they like tiny versions of cadbury eggs?

Ugh, I am in the same boat really. I cannot tolerate most meds so when I get a headache I just suffer it out. If you can lay down or just sit down in a nice Dark, quiet room for awhile I have found that really helps me some. I dont take any type of NSAID, they rip my stomach up. I have the hardest time when I have my period( which I have now as we speak! :( ). I get horrid cramps and severe pain, it really inflammes everything down there. I even got desperate once and took some childrens motrin. Big mistake, it caused me horrible stomach pains for 2 days! Not worth it. I use a heating pad ALL the time, that is the only thing that helps. But of course that will Not help a headache. Oh, one other thing I use is an ice bag. The cold helps with the headaches for me some, it's jiust an idea. Hope you feel better soon

Ihurt, have you tried Bentyl/dicyclomine for the menstrual cramps? It's an IBS med that works on cramps. I was prescribed it ages ago by some dumb doctor who tried to tell me that I just have IBS, and so it really did nothing for my IBD issues - but I find that it works fairly well on the entire lower abdomen area for cramping, so it is actually fairly effective for menstrual cramps and is not an NSAID. I find that it works for me and doesn't cause me any side effects nor does it wreck my liver.

Yes, I have taken Bentyl for my intestinal cramps as well and all it did was constipate the hell out of me which I already am having issues with right now. It was like every time I took that stuff I would get Hard rock pebbles, it was awful. But yeah, you are right, it did seem to help with the menstrual cramps! :( Bummer that is consitpated me to death...

Aw, Ihurt, that stinks. Certain meds constipate me too (Zofran to a lesser extent, and Lomotil can constipate me for a week) so I totally understand that particular misery!

They are Cadbury! Candy coated chocolate eggs yum yum

Ooh yum! I need some of those! My boss gave me a chocolate bunny but it's just not the same as a Cadbury egg.

I admit I do take Advil on occasion, and haven't bored.com I'll effects it. Not on a regular basis, but used when I don't have Tylenol handy...

OH Gosh, I sooo love those!!! I cant eat chocolate, it irritates my Bladder too much with the IC :(... But Those mini Cadbury eggs were my favorite too :)

Yeah it stinks not being able to take anything. OMG Zofran constipates the heck out of me. It made me Hard like a brick. I hate my overly sensitive body I swear!

Tylenol on pain up to 5 on 1 to 10 scale. Tramadol on 5 to 9. Vicodin on 10.
I can use all the constipation I can get - mine is a predominately dria Crohn's.

Things I've tried are chocolate, hydrating more, caffeine, pressure (heavy feather pillow or stuffed animal) and in the past I've used mint oil and rubbed it on my temples. A neck rub is always good too if its a tension headache and a heating pad on the back of the neck can help as well. My husband uses an icepack on his head when he has a headache. I haven't tried that though.
