was wondering what products do you use. I'm taking metamucil 1daily, but no bm yesterday and have some today but still feel to go. It will usually just sit at end of rectum. I'm battling a fissure.
Lots of Flaxseed oil. Usually the tablets, 1000mgs each. Start with 3 and go up as needed. I have taken as many as 10 in a day for a difficult situation, but it works. Glycerin supositories too.
I have espresso when I am constipated. It causes a little cramping before things move, however, it's nowhere near as harsh as laxatives. I also don't have more than 4 shots in a day because it sends things in the opposite direction if I do. Nobody likes diarrhea...
I drink starbucks when I am constipated. if it's really bad, as in painful abdomen, I'll use miralax. I usually have D unless I'm taking my painkillers. course, starbucks upsets my gastritis, but stool softeners suck in their own way.
i got the prune juice but scared to take it incase d. so far haven't pushed andit come out on it own but its a bit bulky and lumpy. I take metamucil once daily and eat some fiber food not too much. I'm so scared to try anything new. what does the prune juice . I wonder about stool softeners and side effects. i'm seeing dr. on wed and get to have a look at my fissure.
Don't use laxatives.. they put too much pressure on the system and could cause damage. I use stool softeners and fiber one bars and high-fiber oatmeal. I would also avoid wheat.. it's really harsh and can cause bleeding. Oat is pretty gentle though
I always had issues with constipation until about 3yrs ago my doctor put me on Miralex for life, once a day. I had two very bad compacted issues that sent me to the ER, after that my dr. & ER dr. said STAY ON MIRALEX...
I can honestly say I have never been constipated since....I take it once in the evening just one dose, I mix with my diet coke.
I drink lots of water. I take a stool softner every day. I also use a chinese herbal supplement twice a day. I drink a tea every couple of days that also helps.
I have on occaision used - fleet enemas, glycerin suppositories and as well colon prep solution when things wouldn't move. A couple of times I have used exlax but I try to avoid it as I don't want to become dependant on them to go at all.
I suffer from constant constipation. I think I'm lucky to go twice a week - usually only once a week. Coffee use to help and sometimes having a beer the night before would help. Nothing seems to help these days. I have yet to try a laxative as I'm a little scared to. Good luck and I hope you can go soon!
I'd suggest trying miralax or stool softeners. miralax has to be the best laxative I've ever tried, and I'm terrified of laxatives. They usually cause so much pain.
