What happened to me?

I've been away for awhile lately with the birth of my second child, needless to say I've had my hands full...my wife moreso!

2 nights ago I wake up around 1am with severe stomach pains, and it would come in 2-3min interval waves. I haven't had any pains since my diagnosis and resection in 2001. At 5am I decided to go to the ER and soon after arriving it went away. I did see the doctor and he ran blood work, and said to go home and he will check the blood work. If he found anything he would call me. Noone has called so I assume the blood work was OK.

I have been in a flare up for the past year, however, been symptom free.

I'm racking my brain asking "what happened?"

I did overindulge the evening prior before going to sleep...cereal, apple, doritos, pop tart. That is my only clue as to why this happened to me. However, I tend to snack like crazy most nights. Maybe it caught up to me.

I feel better now, no pain, I my stomach does feel beat up, like I just worked out.

Any thoughts/comments.

Thanks for listening.

Hey you! I just read this now! Oh my you eat risky stuff! LOL. Blood work doesnt always show anything. You could of been under stress with the new baby! I think you need to go back to Dr S and get a scope done, you know he is the best. Flares can happen anytime anywhere! Dorito's are bad, corn based hard to digest.. pop tarts alot of lard and fat, and apples not peeled are fiberous, so when a fiber is pushing on something hard to digest it hurts! Just be careful and give yourself and stomach a rest. Ensure helps calm and gives you the nutrition you need. Hang in there! Stay in touch with DR S and us/me!

Hi Muse
Congratulations, a new baby is always good news

Oh dear, Doritos? nuff said lol

Ya I guess I've been playing with fire lately.

Penny the ironic part was that I saw Dr S the afternoon before my rough night. Life is funny sometimes.

With resections, it's only a matter of time before the disease takes hold again, often at the resection site too...hope your doc looks into this deep to find out for sure what's going on....congrats on baby, always alot of fun and work rolled into one.

:)

I've gotten a similar pain about 4 times since my journey started 2yrs ago. I am only tentatively dx'ed with CD, so no idea if it's linked. It's exactly how you explained it - wakes me up around 1AM and lasts 4-5hrs with CRAZY pain in intervals with 2-5min between them. I've never had labor pains, but I am guessing it's quite similar! Perhaps you're subconsciously sympathizing with what your wife went through :) I never am able to recall eating anything in particular that would have caused it - the food the night before seems to be fairly on par with what I normally eat. It just seems to be a waiting game until they go away...

Hey Penny,

I see Dr S in June again, and I will definetily say nothing about my eating habits. I just can't help it nowadays, I eat constantly. Ever since I started on the Imuran I've gained 10 lbs. I've never been this heavy in my life. LOL

PS I sent you pics of the little guy.
