Hi guys

Have just had the Dial a Doctor here because I cannot stand this pain anymore.. Even endone isn't helping (but I hate taking it anyway because I can't sleep while taking it)..

I have been dx with IBS but am currently having tests for Crohns after this 'flare' landed me in hospital a week or so ago for 4 days where they did laparoscopy and found nothing so sent me home..

Anyway, I digress.. He has prescribed me salazopyrin 500mg, 2 tabs 4 times a day (as well as some valium so i can take the endone but still sleep).. if I am no better in a few days I am to call him again and he will either up the dose and/or give me domperidone as well? and maybe steroids!? My usual GP is away until the end of next week.

So my question is.. What exactly is it that he's given me? and has anyone else had it? How long did it take to work? I am so over this pain.

Thanks in advance..

Hi Leebie
Salazopyrin is in a class of drugs known as anti inflammatories and is used for treatment of ulcerative colitis and crohn's disease to deal with the inflammation caused by these conditions.
Steroids deal quite swiftly with inflammation.
Sorry to hear you are having a difficult time and hope for an early resolution for you.
Feel better soon
Hugs and best wishes
