Just wondering how long some of your doctors keep you on prednisone.
I just started again, 40mg/day. Last year I was on prednisone for about 8mo out of the year. It works great for me, but I hate to think what it's doing to me damage wise.
Back in the first few years of my diagnosis, I would be on it for months at a time, only off for a short while before flaring again. Then when I flared when my daughter was 2, it was Imuran and not Prednisone. Since then I have only been on it for a short time to settle me as I start Aza.
I also remember my GI telling me some people became "steroid dependent" and had to stay on it always, any time off they would immediately flare. But that was YEARS ago, more and newer medicines now.

When I was first diagnosed in June of 1986 I started Pred, and didn't stop until after Surgery in September 1987. I had to start taking it in May 2012 and will be off in Feb 2013. Not much fun, not at all.
I have a friend who has Addison's disease and has to be on Pred for the rest of his life. There are consequences of course but he has no other option. He has been on 3 years so far.
