Ever since I was diagnosed, I have been bombarded with people coming to me offering these natural supplements that are sure to cure me. I am kind of skeptical about these things. I have read that fish oil and vitamin B12 are good supplements to take. I am not going off my medication, just looking for extra supplements to enhance my wellness. What to you take?

My Crohn's is mostly perianal, so I haven't had much trouble absorbing nutrients, though I have had a long history of being anemic. When anemic, I take iron, and when I'm having trouble consuming enough fruits and vegetables to meet the RDIs, I take a children's multivitamin. Otherwise, I don't take anything. If my disease moved to other parts of my digestive tract, I would consider taking other supplements, but for now, I don't need them.

turmeric, resveratrol (japanese knotweed or grapeseed extract) you will have to find the right dosage for yourself, to high can have side effects, but they really make me feel normal.

messing around with rosemary and rose hips right now, rosemary contains something called pentacyclic triterpenes which are suspected to be the basis for most medicinal plants power, but its found in the supermarket, just like turmeric, so cheap and accessible, it doesnt seem like it will supress all symptoms, although turmeric and resveratrol seem like they are more powerful so far compared to rosemary. Rose hips contain the same chemicals, but i anticipate rosehips to have much less side effects as they may contain less toxic chemicals compared to rosemary. rosemary is like a once in a while herb consumed in small quanities where rosehips i something that has historically been consumed more as a food rather then a spice.

another i have yet to try is licorice and milk thistle.

i have read almost every existing scientific document on traditional herbs and their medical potential, im trying to find the ones that seem to be the least toxic and have been consumed as food as one time or another because i have been using turmeric and resveratrol and they work good to suppress symptoms and return my feeling of normalcy, i know better exists i just have to find it. eventually what i will have is a mixture of herbs at low levels which which all work along a different pathway but when used together they provide a broad spectrum of disease suppression.

Some of the supplements I take are:

vitamin D3 aiming for a testing level above 50ng/ml
magnesium
vitamin K2
fish oil
Kelp, rich in iodine which is thought to help with thyroid health.

My son takes Krill Oil, Vitamin D and Calcium. Currently on supplemental EN which, vitamin/mineral-wise, I would equate to a multi-vitamin.
