It's going to be a cold rainy (and possibly snowy) weekend and I plan on not leaving my house if I can help it. I'm feeling cold and would like to bake something nice and warm, that sounds so nice. What do you guys bake when you are in a baking mood? Desserts, or a main dish, or something else? I am leaning towards banana bread but I always bake banana bread, and I'd kind of like to get out of this baking rut. Anybody have yummy gut-friendly baking ideas?

I like making meringue cookies with chocolate chips -- easy, fast, and yum!

Mmm, cookies! I love chocolate, those cookies sound really good, and I know I have chocolate chips at home so that's definitely feasible. Now I'm wondering if I should bake a few things - I could make cookies and cake and even muffins! We have blueberries at home that are about to go bad so I should use those, maybe in blueberry muffins. I know my hubby has a cookbook that's got nothing but cake recipes. Yum! Maybe cupcakes... such a tough decision! If I bake too much I'm going to have to invite people over to help me eat it all! ;)

Zucchini bread! Mmmm. My first thought was banana bread but then I read your whole post and realized I am no help. Hehehe.

Have you ever baked fortune cookies? They are surprisingly easy and go great with peanut butter.

Oooooh, yum to both suggestions :)

I have never baked fortune cookies but that sounds like a really cool idea! I'm definitely going to look for a recipe for those. I don't have any zucchini but perhaps I'll plant some in my garden this year, so I'll keep that idea on the backburner for now.

Amy, I forgot about that, sounds yum! Not sure if I'll be able to stomach it this weekend, unfortunately. I was awake half the night last night with an awful attack of acid reflux which caused horrible nausea. I know that chocolate is one of the things that triggers acid reflux, so unfortunately I shouldn't bake with chocolate today unless I plan on not eating it. :( That sucks. I so hate my body sometimes! I had a lovely relaxing weekend planned and now I feel like crap and am not relaxed and don't want to eat, let alone bake. Ugh!

Sorry for the vent there. I shouldn't let my health influence my entire weekend. Anybody have recipes for things to bake when you are feeling nauseous or having acid reflux issues? Something very easy on the tummy?

For me baked goods (and pizza) are the only things I've found that actually trigger my acid reflux. Including banana bread. D:

Hope you're feelin' better.

Thanks everybody. It took all weekend but I got my reflux under control, for now. Needless to say I didn't do much baking! I did make blueberry muffins and I've got some mushy bananas at home, so I will probably end up making banana bread in the next day or two. Unless anybody has other ideas with what to bake using 3 or 4 mushy old bananas?

I made apple crisp for my hubby and he loved it, now he has two favourites, apple crisp and cheesecake...he used to like Black forrest cake but I hate it and I will never make it, it would kill me anyways. Love apple crisp and so easy to make, but there is a good trick and I ain't tellin'
