I was wondering how you can avoid a partial
Obstruction, and also what can help if you are partially obstructed, like drinking water? I don't know, I am new to CD :)

I have a few partial obstructions in my small bowel/large bowel caused by inflammation and scar tissue. The best advice I can give you is:

1) Go on a liquid diet. Even if it is for a few days, it helps tremendously with the bloating, tightness, and, in my case, 'constipation'.

2) Avoid most meats-particularly red meat. I don't know where your obstruction is, but the ones in my upper GI are aggravated by most meats. I stick to chicken.

3) Drink LOTS of water :) ! Especially during meals & when taking your pills. This will help 'lubricate' things so they can flow the partial blockage smoother.

4) Exercise! I know, easier said than done. I walk/jog a lot when I am having a 'attack'. It is worth it!

5) Cut back on the fiber. If you are on a diet like the Paleo or simply need that veggie/fruit intake, make smoothies or drink some V8 juice!

5) Relaxing bath. When I get obstruction pains I freak out and go into a crying fit where I am in a fetal position by the toilet. I'm not a pretty criar! :D Sometimes I just hop in the bath tub and throw in some lavendar scented epsom salt. The lavendar makes me sleepy and the epsom salt helps my sore bum. Win-win! :)

I hope you feel better! Feel free to ask more questions! We're all in this together!
