Just wondering...

What is it that you believe would make you FEEL better, from an emotional perspective? Doesn't have to be realistic, logical, or even true to life. Just what you do/wish you had/wish you did/wish someone did when you're feeling down.

I'll start, I guess.

When I feel really sick/sad/upset, I like

- The feeling of a warm sun of my back
- The breeze of the wind
- The coolness of water
- Hugging a pillow
- Cuddling with people (hehe)
- Affection
- Listening to people talk to me
- Listening to people do random stuff online
- Tea (lighter greens, or herbals)
- Gaming
- Wrapping myself in blankets
- Meditating (I'm not even sure if I'm actually meditating, or just sitting happily)

What about you, crohnsforum? What makes you feel better? What do you long for when you're down?

"Wrapping myself in blankets" I agree, sitting in a hot shower and talking with friends/family so I have a chance to forget about my problems if even for a moment.

Is that sitting in a hot shower WHILE talking to friends/family? I mean, I have a couple friends I wouldn't mind being in the shower with, but it might be a little uncomfortable with family.

haha, I should have numbered them in order. This was my top three list of things that make me feel better. Thanks for the laugh! :rof:

I'm sure like a lot of people on here, when ill it's easier to push people away and want to be alone - someone pushing through that and turning up to make a cup of tea and sit and watch tv ...

Yeah, that sounds nice. :3

I think we could all use some more IRL support, despite how cranky sick people can be.

Greetings! This is my very first post on here. I was diagnosed with CD in 1994. I will do a write up today sometime on my entire story. But the title of this tread just caught my eye.

What would make me feel better? Ever since I was diagnosed with Crohns, and have gone through all the "crap" dealing with it, (you'll read about it in my story), its just truly hard to find a woman who can deal with our problem along side us. You tell them about the illness, and most of the time, I never hear from them again.

Its also embarrasing to bring a woman back home with you, then you have to go #2. And if anyone else is like me, ever since I had my bowel resections, had an ileostomy reversed, I tend to be a little LOUD in the bath room when it comes to methane release. My last finace', whom I was with for 8 years, she seemed to deal with my problem ok. When I'd goto the bathroom, she'd just crank the tv up, and we'd have cases of Glade Air Freshner in the bathroom. But alas, she must of become sick of it all, and left me one day after EIGHT YEARS, and never gave me a reason. I know what the reason is, she didn't have to tell me.

Now when I try to meet a nice girl, I get really hesitant about telling them about my illness. Most will never understand it, and most will never know how to deal with it.

What would make me feel better? To be able to wake up in the morning again, roll over and look at my girl, watch her open her eyes, tell her goodmorning and how much I love her, give her a kiss, then make her breakfast. Just knowing she loves me for who I am, and understands the disease, and can live with and deal with it along side me, knowing she will be there through the really rough times, that will come again. and JUST KNOWING, you will not have to go through this alone, and she will be there to do all she can to make you feel warm, feel loved, and most of all, feel wanted!!!!

THAT'S WHAT WOULD MAKE ME FEEL BETTER!

Just a forward note on my story, its going to be a long one. I will also have a nice story under Remicade. I was Northwest Indiana's first recipient of Remicade and was Janssens Pharms Northwest Indiana Guinea Pig. I had the head honcho's from Janssen watching me closely for the first 3 infusions. More to come as soon as I get my story wrote up. Janssen has asked me to write a small auto-bio of my ordeals and how Remicade has helped, what better time to do it, as right now, and right here, my new home to make friends, CrohnsForum.com

-pedicure/manicure
-massage
-spending the entire day watching the waves crash on the beach
-spending the entire day hiking up a mountain and enjoying the view
-spending time with family
-reading a book that touches you
-stumbling upon a song that you've never heard before and falling in love with it or hearing a song that you haven't heard in a long time
-learning to play an instrument
-taking up a new hobby
-genuinely smiling
-baking
-making little kids laugh, even if you have to cheat and tickle them
-window shopping

Morphine. The only time I have been on it I saw little black gnomes building a cage around my bed trapping me in. It was an amusing show. (The lack of pain helped too)

I like the time right before night time where you can still feel the heat from the day but you can feel the cooler breeze of the night cooling you down too.

There is something comforting about night time too, I think it's because I feel more protected, less in the open, covered by the sky. Night time is my favorite time of the day.

What's the reason? That's she's a huge bitch? I mean, I totally understand how hard it is to be with someone who's sick. But, being with them for eight years? That's just unkind.

ahhhhh i know exactly how you feel. Isn't it strange that one of the biggest things that this disease makes us long for is a companion?

ahhhh i love all of these ideas. I might get a little uncomfortable with a massage, I don't really like kids, and I actually prefer to SHOP, but I totally love your ideas.

Awww :(( That's sad, funny, and depressing at the same time. Why don't you try medicinal marijuana? Like, lots of it? haha

Mmmmm. I also like when the sun is hot, but the wind is blowing. Same kind of hot/cool feeling. I like night time as well. I'm gonna sound like one of those weird kids that pretend their dark and mysterious, but I really like the darkness of it. It makes me kinda feel like there's nothing around me, nothing to worry about, just me and what little I can see.

Thanks to everyone for sharing :3

I'd prefer to shop too but I have a soft spot for window shopping, especially if its done at really expensive stores. Then, I can steal those ideas and find cheaper clothes at different stores.
