Hi all, wondering if when starting Imuran whether anyone else felt like all their symptoms were comming to the forefront but like milder. Eg. complaints as joint pain being felt where you hadn't felt that particular joint for some time and on feeling it mildly or a bit tinglerly it reminders you that you used to have problems there. My normal joint pain is migatory. I am feeling slight niggles all around different parts of intestine also. Will be 2 month Imuran on the 17th now taking 50mg. Very tired. Imuran or flare? Also have red vulva with minute surface blood on wiping but there is no itching like its thrush.

Of the symptoms you mentioned, the only one I recall was the intense fatigue. Well, I may have had some mild joint pain, too, and Doc said take acetaminophen. Joint issues resolved by a couple of months. Fatigue related to Imuran got better but took considerably longer. I think fatigue I experience now is the depression roller coaster. I do have intestine "niggles", but I feel they are not related to the medicine. Don't know if that helps any... I look forward to what others may have to say.

Roo didn't have any side effects with Imuran but she is only on a small maintenance dose.

Dusty. :)

I still get winces of pain in odd joints every now and then. If that is due to Imuran it is hard to say. My knees are not swelling up like a purple elephant with the associated agony and loss of mobility. An odd twinge here and there is kind of to be expected as Imuran simply "reduces" the immune response. So every thing should still be there, just to a lesser extent like you say.

Yea, I've had real bad joint pain this weekend (the worst yet). I'm not sure if that's just because of the crohn's or if it's because of the imuran (or a combination of both). I've been on imuran since February and this is the first time I've really experienced bad joint pain, but then we just did get a freak Tropical Storm down here (Hermine) so it could be the change in environmental pressure. What's weird is that imuran is also used to combat the symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis, which is known to manifest in crohn's patients.

I was on Imuran for 8 years, from 50mg to 200mg. fatigue is a common side effect. it takes imuran approximately 6-8 weeks to become effective in ones system which means that during this time you can experience various side effects which some of them will taper off and some will not. When I upped my dosage, I could not fall asleep and had join pain.
