I think that generally if you feel sick enough to be contemplating dealing with the ER than you may very well need to go.

I try to avoid the ER and either wait or schedule a quick visit with my GI or call their emergency line.

I personally limit going to the ER unless I'm in excruciating pain, running a high fever. I have pretty much gone over obstructions and absecesses but otherwise try to wait it out.

Well you should definetly go see your local doctor as you are obviously having a lot of discomfort. I remember being like this before I went on any meds. It certainly aint a nice place to be but I believe that a trip to the ER might not help . You probably need a regime of drugs to help with inflamamtion and a more suitable diet to enable your inside to heal under les stress.
The main thing is to stay calm , try to keep a diary of what you eat and the resulting pains or toilet problem. Put together a picture of whats happening . This will help you understand how your body is reacting to food and will also put your doctor in the picture.
There are many effects from IBD such as cramps ,sore eyes, lumps and bowel problems . Many of these can be managed with proper medication. Go see your doctor and tell him .her everything and try to arrange to seea GI to have a better look to maybe sugguest a course of meds.
Good luck
Peter.
