Where Are You From? I always see the locations under our names and thought it might be interesting to see how the countries rank up. I think Canada is gonna whip us all!

Hee Hee, watch out now because I finally figured out how to make a poll! I love polls. I have lots of small questions for y'all.

Currenly call the Leeward Coast of Oahu, Hawaii, US, home. Born in Texas, grew up outside of New Orleans, lived a few years in the San Francisco area before moving here. Don't plan on ever moving again.

Home is outside of Philly. Born in NC and recovering from surgery in NC currently.

Oh, yes, I am from Squaw Valley CALIFORNIA. That is not the lovely ski resort which is called Squaw Valley USA. We are located about 1 hour outside of Fresno in the foothills of Central California. I am 20 miles short of the gate to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks (just as wonderful as Yosemite -- less people -- more campgrounds). We get snow dustings up to 3 times a year and only about 3-6 inches that melts off right away. We are in rolling hills and scrub oaks with critters ranging from rattlers, scorpions, tarantulas, bobcats, mountain lions, and coyotes to hawks and falcons, deer, cottontails, squirrels, and all our lovely sheep, goats, horses and donkies! Lovely peaceful place, close to major city of Fresno. Can't beat it.

Yorkshire (near where last of the summer wine was filmed) UK, surrounded by open countryside and moorlands. A truly beautiful and peaceful place to be with oodles of fresh air!

I'm in the great state of Virginia. Pretty much everything is in VA, even most military bases. We have the largest military concentration of anywhre in the world just in my area. We also have the fbi, cia, headquarters, the pentagon, arlington national cemetary, hollywood cemetary in richmond, the confederate capital, and whtie house, we also have the only air force base with the F-22 raptors. we also train the cia, secret service, navy seals, coast guard, and so forth here.

Not to mention we have Jamestown the first colony i believe, yorktown which was the last battle of the revolutionary war where the cave still stands that we captured cornwallis in, we have colonial parkway, which is the oldest road in the country that george washington road a horse and carriage on. We have many more things, including a lot of battles fromt he civil war.

Im from County Down Northern Ireland.East Coast ,10 mins from the irish sea and the tip of Strangford lough

Lebanese

Hi

I'm from Lebanon. When I first got diagnosed 6 years ago, I never heard of Crohn's disease. And my doctor told me it was rare in my country and more common in Northen Europe and America.

But after starting to get open with my disease, I discovered that 2 people in my office had UC. Also I started to hear from lots of people that they know somebody who either has CD or UC. So it seems to be spreading in my country also!!!

By the way, the population in my country is only 4 Million.

Now, I am wondering where all the Canadians are . . . not into voting? The Americans are taking the lead on the board here . . . or are we just into voting for fun things like polls, American Idol, Dancing with the Stars (go Mario!) and the like?

I Love New York!

Yep, i'm from New York City, Manhattan, i can see Yankee Stadium <Monica and i are big fans>, George Washington Bridge, Shea Stadium (yuck) and LaGuardia Airport from our windows.

i am from a very small country but recently flown away by the Noble award for peace, Bangladesh.

I live in a small village in the north of Kent England. The village is in the Doomsday book and some of the buildings date back to the 1600s.The ruined castle is of norman construction built in the 10th century and only a few hundred yards from me. I have a river 40yrds from my front door and i am surrounded by farmland and woods. I was born here but due to rising house/rent prices it looks like we will be forced out like so many of the other villagers. To be replaced by people who want the country life but dont have a clue about living in a village community.

I live in Northern Minnesota. The movie "Fargo" made great sport of us and our mannerisms. Sort of accurate, but we do not all have Swedish accents since we are a melting pot of nationalities, mine is of Finnish origin.

I do not live near any major cities and that is fine with me. We have lots of deer, bear, fox, coyotes, rabbits, grouse, ducks, porcupines, skunks, raccoons, weasels, otters, muskrats, beaver, mink, bobcats, some moose, wolverines, badger and too many wolves. We are also the "land of 10,000 lakes and three fish". Our state bird is a mosquito, or at least should be. I guess I would fit into the "hick" category as I do not like big cities too much.

I also have 120 acres of land to hunt and wander around on. I work at a paper mill full time and we own a small business also.

Crohns hindered me for two years before I was diagnosed. Had a stricture in my small bowel (3 inches) removed and have been recovering nicely. I normally experience no pain so I am unusual in that respect. I am pretty much normal except for the fact that I have the disease. Doctor described it as moderate Crohns.

I use no medications, just Turmeric and Ginger and some experimental bioresonance treatments.

Born in Philly, raised in Philly and work in Philly. Moved 2 blocks outside of Philly to Lafayette Hill three years ago.

Born in Tacoma, Washington. Moved to Columbus, Ohio before I was old enough to remember it. Recently moved to Sunbury, Ohio because I like the country. Wish I could move to Ireland.

East coast of Canada... House looks out over the Atlantic ocean, and you can hear the crash of the waves. I've visited a lot of places, Europe, United Kingdom, U.S.A., and the Caribean... All were great, people I've met have been outstanding.. But the nicest place and people of all have been right here at home. Or at least I think so. Besides, I can blame my gas on the passing pods of killer whales.. As in "Whew, no wonder they call them 'killer' whales"

I'm from a beautiful little village called Mid Calder, 12 miles or so outside Edinburgh (where I work) in Scotland. THE most beautiful country in the world, if you haven't visited you should!

I'm from Louisiana. Am I the ONLY deep south person here? Ah well, let the good time roll ya'll!

I sure hope all members chime in. It's pretty cool to see where we live. Kev, can I come visit? It's HOT, HOT, HOT and DRY here. The ocean sounds lovely right this minute. California has little history. Kinda boring. For those of you in the villages that date back centuries, any ghosts? We get MOST HAUNTED on the TV here. Are they for real? UK I am sure you know what I mean. I think it's a woman and she is going to say, "Sam, tell Derek I was murdered in this room and my name is Sarah." Laughs. Seriously, love the ghosty stuff. I do have a San Diego ghosty story . . . went to the Whaley House, looked in the window, looked at my cell phone and 45 minutes had gone by suddenly. Really odd. Didn't go into the Whaley House though as it would have cost extra. However, if I go back to San Diego, I am definitely going back in. Maybe I can find my 45 minutes.

Hello Greg and welcome to the Forums! :)

I would be about 5 hours away from you....on the border of the U.S..
in southwestern Ontario.

Born and raised in Maine...moved to Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1997 and am here still! Survived Katrina...yaaaaaayyyyyy!

I was raised in a town on the edge of the biggest fresh water lake in the UK. My parents now live on the north east coast of Northern Ireland about 40mins north of Belfast and about 5mins from the sea.

I now live about 90mins north of London in east anglia. Being more landlocked these days I really miss the glens (valleys) of Antrim with their waterfalls and the atlantic ocean coming thundering into shore after a storm at sea.

I love it when I can drive home all the way up through England to Scotland and get the car ferry across as my parents come down to the harbour and watch the ferry dock (they live 5mins outside the port). Harder to leave though! Last few times have flown home.

I am near Hamilton, Ontario, Canada!

Nancy Lee, would you be in the Niagara area by chance? :)

Hi and welcome to the fourm!
I'm down here in southwestern Ontario...
Windsor to be exact!

Have a great Canada Day! :)

Hi - I'm from Jersey, an island in the English Channel close to France for those of you in the US who may think Jersey is New Jersey! We were here first!

i live in a little village in kent, england. I have an international motorsport track next to me (litterally have to walk through a set of trees to be there)

Born and raised in southeastern connecticut, moved to middle tennessee last year. Very small town called Red Boiling Springs, pop. about 900. I love living in a small town.

Sunny Los Angeles

I live in Los Angeles, CA--just a few miles from Hollywood.
I've lived here in 15 years, with a year break living in Lake Tahoe, Nv.

I was born and raised in Tucson, AZ, so I've always been a west coast gal.

I'm just over the New Hampshire border about 40 miles north of Boston in a town called Hudson. About a 2 hour ride to the White Mountains where all of the folks from the UK seem to go on vacation.

A bit jealous of Kev living right on the Ocean, some day when my son gets older, I want to go up to Nova Scotia for a vacation. It's beautiful up there.

G'day Mate - lets put another shimp on the Barbie hahaha

Canada

I'm from Mississauga Ontario, just west of Toronto.

I believe that ahh... US Americans can't find Canada on a map, such as therefore, because some Canadians don't let us have maps such as the snow in the summer....therfore :queen:.

Hi Kpratte,

I have been to Hudson many times, My previous employer's head office is there, (Presstek).

Hmm, when I was young, I lived in toronto, just east of mississauga, for quite a time.
Odd thing was, in all of the time I spent in toronto, I only met 2 people who admitted being from there. everyone else was originally from someplace else. My aunt & uncle, who lived in mississauga, were originally from Cape Breton.. and it seems that some things are a matter of perspective. for example, we east coasters believed that folks from Ontario couldn't find the east coast on a map either, unless they were born there. But the one thing of all I most vividly recall is meeting ontario born folks who were simply amazed that I hailed from the east, as they (as they put it) couldn't detect that quaint little accent we all spoke with there... I guess it just shows that people are people, no matter where they live.

Edinburgh, Beautiful Edinburgh, Scotland's capital, Home of Edinburgh Castle and the Edinburgh festival.

Im from a little village in leeds called altofts, from my window there i can just see other houses and hear the M62! lol!
My room here at uni looks onto other rooms and the back of the sports centre, and i can hear drunk student staggering home after nights out! cool - eh! I hope i'l be lucky enough one day to say i live near a stream or can hear pods of killer wales!!
I do get to see a couple of bats at dusk if im lucky! Or hear seagulls! Or even the drill from the builders downstairs! Lol!

I live in a cottage on a dairy farm a few miles from a small town called Wiveliscombe, in Somerset, SouthWest England. It's so quiet. Lovely! :)

I was born born and raised in a little town called Lockport, NY; it's near the Buffalo/Niagara Falls area. I moved to Alabama and lived there for 7 years and now living in Florida (for the past 7+ years) - USA

Hi all, I was born and lived in Morecambe on the North West coast of England just below the Lake District. Moved to Rossendale (in the countryside) approximately 10 miles north of Manchester when I married my beautiful wife, nine years ago. Have three year old twins, Hannah and Joshua

Don't take this the wrong way, but I really hope your twins look like their mother. You do not photograph too well.

And yet, you still look better than me.

Dan Bergman

just to add, I am Canadian, but I live in Florida cause my parents thought the U.S. was a better place to live.
my girlfriend and I plan to move to Canada once our money situation levels out.

I would love to race. I gotta 71' Mach 1 with a built 351C.

Delawhere is a bit of a drive for me. I couldn't afford the gas and octane booster.

Nice to see another great Ford.

Dan Bergman

Nice! Love the 71-73 Stangs!!! I have a beast myself! Fully forged short block and a Votech S/C pushin' 13psi dynoed at 425 RWHP!!

I think I am out gunned. I have no boost! I doubt I have that many ponies at the rear wheel. Maybe 350 tops.

But I have two more Clevelands in the Garage so maybe....

Looks like you did it right.

Dan Bergman

What, no Windsors? Or were they only available in Canada? My 83 Gran Torino.. (sigh, there was a car) with a 351 windsor (not cleveland or modified cleveland) .. took on an LTD with a 401... and walked away with prize

course, everytime it rained, I had to short out the solenoid leading to the battery to get it to start. not a good thing to do in the rain with un-insulated tools. or boots. But what a car to make out in at the drive in. GLORY DAYS

Clevelands were only made for a few years, most of them burned up by racers long ago. The Windsor is much more common, as it was not as desirable in the old days, and they made a lot more of them
.
Now, you can find lots of aftermarket parts for the Windsor, but not much for the Cleveland. Not enough Clevelands around to bother with.

The Cleveland had huge valves, which the racers loved, back in the day.

Dan Bergman

Yeah, and didn't the cleve's have valves that required 'leaded' gasoline? Like, with the move away from 'leaded' gas, you had to keep putting additives in else the valves chewed themselves up. either that, or you had to replace the header.

my memory from those days isn't as clear as it used to be. But I vividly recall the shorting of the solenoid (or relay) that was mounted on top of the right front fender next to the battery. But what I most vividly recall was how I could drop the front bucket seats forward and flat, turning the roomy plush backseat into almost a full size bed... and the 2nd 8 track that I had mounted in the rear deck, between the rear speakers. Anyone recall the sound of 'quad' 8 tracks?

I remember the sound of eight tracks. I threw all mine in the garbage because of the sound. I always loved wedging a matchbook under one of those damn things to get it to track right. That is, if it would not eat the tape altogether.

Jumping the solenoid. I have done that on my Mustang. Has the same set up, and it is a relay on Ford's. On Chrysler's and Chevy's you had to jump it on the starter. Would arc like crazy.

Man we are old.

Glad there is new generations to figure out the new cars. Not much use for Carb tuning anymore.

Dan Bergman

Well, 8 tracks were often precoscious (sp?) at times. I used the matchbook fix in a van (GMC extended 3/4 ton).. but that was primarily because the 8 track mounted on the internal firewall was at an extremely odd angle.. maybe 20 degree off of perpendicular. However, (regrettably they didnt' last long) when 'quadraphonic' 8 tracks came on the market, I bought one, eventually a 2nd.. because the 'sound' from them was fantastic.. reproduction to rival digital tape, even CD's (way before either of those were even dreamt of). I played Meatloaf till I literally wore it out... (and that infamous drag was from the original master tape). As for today's cars, hell, I occasionally will crawl under to change my oil myself, just to relive the days of installing/rebuilding starters on my Camaro.. but the reality is that i'm not as limber as I was back then, and have no interest in boring out and sleeving the cylinders, or installing a high end ignition kit (do they even make Accel ignition kits anymore), or pulling and replacing the whole cam shaft (there was a fun couple of days).. fine tuning a holley carburator, or custom making your own high resistance plug cables... getting the 'cross-over' pattern just right.. All done without the benefit of a cover garage, or a creeper

boy, not only am I old... but apparently as a kid I really needed my head examined. When I think of the time, money, and bruised knuckles, oil under my finger nails, various carbon based vehicle fluids I exposed myself to back then.. no freakin wonder that I'm ill now... and where did all of those cars end up? in a scrap yard, where I may be headed if things don't start to turn around soon!

You just can't match fuel injection, especially with dyno tuning and the like! Man, I love OHV's much more top end than the ole pushrod motors! Of course these modular motors lack displacement so hit em' with some kind of boost, better yet forge your internals and hit em' with lot's of boost!!

Ah, nothing touches the sound of vinyl!!! I have over 5000 albums and most artists today still put it out on vinyl!!

I live next to the ocean in Indianapolis, Indiana. Wait . . that's not an ocean, it's my bathtub!! Oh well, at least I have the mountains to look at (sarcasm)!

eastbourne, on the south coast of england, but its full of old people that block up the supermarket and drive at 10mph on the roads, regarsd sharon x

nice view. I can see the ocean.. if i walk outside my house and down the road for about 2 miles.. haha.

I live in West Virginia and have all my life (yes we are a state seprate from Virginia and have been for a while, funny how alot of people dont know that lolz) I live in a little town called Terra Alta. Out in the middle of nowhere... seriously this is one of those nowhere places, I'll in time show ya some pictures of it all. It is a nice place to live , very beautiful and for the most part peaceful. Sometimes it seems to be stuck in the 50's almost in alot of ways. That is changing fast tho, my lil speck on a map is getting a reputation for a biker and hippie hangout. For those of you interested in what I am talking about check out this www.sunshinedreams.com has alot of 70's music and such... brings in the bad with the good tho. my lil town is growing faster and faster now... good and bad. The winter here is what sux the most for me, I live on a dirt road (litterally made of dirt and rock , no pavement what so ever, alot of people misunderstand this as well lolz) So there for the snow plow seems to over look us for the most part, the road is actually smooth tho at that time of year.... but it is all snow or ice or both... but smooth and no pot holes lolz! WV is one of the few states I guess you could say really experiences all 4 seasons. Sping the apple trees and such are in full bloom and birds show up all over, Summer everything is green and alive, during Autumn the leaves are bright orange and red and fall all over, and winter well... I think Winter is more like a 6 month long season from October till the end of March but I can only honestly remember 1 year that we didn't have snow on Christmas.. but then we got hit with 5 foot about a week later. So there ya have it, where I am from in detail :)

North Donegal, Republic of Ireland.

Just by the Atlantic Ocean on one side of me, beautiful Donegal mountains on the other side.

Where Are You From? I always see the locations under our names and thought it might be interesting to see how the countries rank up. I think Canada is gonna whip us all!
