Where do you inject your Humira?

I've been on it 5+ years and have always done it in my thigh. I tried it once in my stomach, but remember it hurting worse. I'm just curious if anyone has noticed it hurting less/more in certain areas or even working better if injected in different places?

Thanks!!

I generally use my stomach I tried my leg and it came back out around the needle, since crohns it has been almost impossible to have body fat, so the tiny bit I can squeze on my stomach feels better to me then straight muscle. Even in my stomach if I don't gather enough fat I will feel it.

I do mine in my stomach. I find after putting ice on it for a while it hurt less and was less awkward to do. Plus I have more fat there! Did leg for about a year though, can't imagine doing it there now!

For me, the stomach was too painful, so I stick to alternating legs. I found it stings less if I use it directly out of the fridge. Someone once told me to leave it out for 20 minutes before using, but that stings worse.

Alternating thighs here too. It hurts so bad! I've been told to try my stomach but I'm to chicken after having painful shots there before.

I just started Humira and did all 4 loading doses in my stomach. I'd say only one stung more than the others. I just feel like it wouldn't hurt as bad as in my thigh. I'm gonna try my thighs for the next two to see if it's any better.

When I used Humira I alternated between my stomach and thighs. I found the stomach much more painful than the thighs though.

I have a beer/pizza gut, did the loading doses in my stomach with no problems, didn't hurt at all... Will stick with the stomach as my thighs don't have enough fatty tissue and i would imagine it would hurt going into muscle..

I have been on humira since November 2012. I did my 1st abdominal injection last Wednesday. I was scared to death, but to my delight it hurt much less!! So, for me for now, my belly is my site!

My belly, alternating sides. Stings a little bit going in then I don't feel anything more after that. Doesn't hurt AT ALL! Surprised by people who say it hurts.

Left thigh, right thigh, right side of belly, left side of belly. That's how I do it. Regarding pain, it all depends on how cold it is and how much I ice the area, did my injection last night and I felt almost zero pain, but I could feel it go in, you now when it makes that "slushie" noise when it goes under the skin? I love that sound! =]

Wow, I must be a total whimp because I think the shots hurt like &^%$$##$&! I can't even do it myself. I'm (well my husband) is doing my 4th maintenance injection tonight and I just hold my breath and wait for it to be over!

When I was on Humira, I was a big baby and couldn't even try in my stomach. :) I alternated thighs, it took me about 1/2 hour each time to work up the nerve. Tried ice, but found that and when it was fresh out of the fridge it was actually more painful to me.

Haha I know exactly what you mean with the "slushie" sound! I get this visual in my head of all the medicine whoosing into my body like a little cartoon. (It helps to take my mind away!)

I have just done my 3rd dose (just one shot) and so far I've done them all in my stomach, warmed to room temperature and they haven't hurt. I got my Hepatitis A and B shot earlier this week and oh boy, that hurt a lot more. Especially cos it was cold.

My IBD nurse said it would hurt more in my thigh so I haven't tried it - I don't have much fat on my thighs but I do have a pot belly so it's perfect for injecting Humira (there's finally an upside to my lovely little jelly belly!)
