Hello everyone ,
I am going to get my wisdom teeth removed soon because they're finally bothering me and I wanted to know is there any special kind mouth wash or something I could use if they try to prescribe me antibiotics because I DONT want to take them because I had cdiff before like 8 months ago an I do NOT WANT TO GET THAT AGAIN! So thank you for any replys?

I understand not wanting antibotics. A friend ours dentist didn't believe they were necessary with dental work while on humira. Normal mouth bacteria got into him bloodstream and travel to him back ate two piece of backbone. End result 12 weeks off work.

Wait I'm sorry Ms. Catherine I'm lost so did he not use the antibiotics and how did bacteria get in his blood stream I figured if I gargle with salt water after every meal an use a mouth wash they usually prescribe you when have gingivitis it would b OK but idk that scares me to take the risk

No antibotics given.

Dental work caused openning in the gum which allowed the normal mouth bacteria to enter the bloodstream through the openning.

Are you having your wisdom teeth out in hospital?

My daughter actually had to stop Humira (she had to skip 2 or 3 shots) when she had her wisdom teeth removed. It was a pain and she flared but she did heal well (and very quickly!). I think she was given two doses of an antibiotic but that's it.

I've heard of several people who had their wisdom teeth taken out while on Humira/Remicade so I guess her doctor was being extra cautious (it was a pediatric doctor). I would definitely talk to both your oral surgeon and GI about your options.
