Hey everyone! I'm a newly diagnosed crohn's patient. I'll be finishing up my antibiotics from a nasty abscess that has been causing me a lot of pain in a couple days. My last scope, there was so much inflammation in my small intestine that my dr said he couldn't even get through it. My next GI appt is in a couple of weeks. While I was in the hospital for the abscess my GI mentioned started me on a prednisone taper when I go back and then starting the Entocort and Lialda again. I have three small children, and honestly with all that I'm reading I'm afraid of all the side effects of the meds. I've been reading so much about Remicade and how it's life changing for people. My question is- would my dr even consider starting me on Remicade? My insurance (Tricare Prime) covers it. Is it typical for you to stay on steroids and then move on to something else? I want to be myself again and have the energy to play with my children. Any advice??

I certainly would consider another medication if the previous one did not keep you in remission.

It never hurts to ask questions. My doctors would likely think I was ill if I did not ask my usual ten or twenty questions. I make them work for their money!
