It's been hard for me to get out at all! Yesterday and last night was a very magical almost NORMAL night! lol I was constipated all day but didn't feel the uncomfortable effects until today lol. first time in a year! I usually crap 5-10 times a day! I went out last night with my sister and my boyfriend and some friends! Didn't drink water or anything until I was dying of thirst (didn't want to ruin my night by drinking liquids and going to the bathroom nonstop). They were all drinking alcohol and some martinis! I miss drinks! I only used to drink up to 2 times a month but still I miss the taste. Hard to even drink water now though. Bentyl has been helping but doc office said once the ER Bentyl I have runs out, no more. Maybe I'll be back to being sick after my Bentyl wears off and runs out but I hope not. Still have trouble sleeping if I don't take Bentyl. After that's out I'm still ONLY on Lialda. My "specialist" is not going to help me get better at all. He's not giving me any medicine to help besides Lialda. He will not listen to how uncomfortable I am when I'm not taking Bentyl.................

My doctor has never been in his own office he only has his nurse practicioner in there for visits. Since I can't pay for visits I call, and only way to talk to doc is through the ladies that work at the desk :( They're very annoyed with me. They said he will not prescribe me ANYTHING else besides Lialda! I'm gonna call when my bentyl is out and they're gonna hear it. Why is he not trying to help me? :(

bentyl was from ER chest pain visit....but I complained of crohns getting worse and hurting and spasming more so they gave me bentyl. Dr. Office says since I got it at the ER once it's out it's out :( They can't help me with ANYTHING!

Wow, you must have found the worst doctor in the country. I've never heard of such issues with a doctor before. Prednisone is cheap (cheaper than an internet connection). Go to the ER if you have to and ask for Pred if it's that bad. In the meantime, get to calling all of the sources for free clinics, etc that everyone on this site has given you in the past and find a new doctor. Or go see any doctor even though you do not have insurance. They will see you and work out a payment plan.

You will not get yourself out of this hole if you don't try something new because obviously what you are doing now, isn't working.

I have a meeting at Goodwill tomorrow, they're supposed to help me with my bills and with getting a specialist for FREE! Hope it works out!

There is no payment plan......there's no money in my account for me to pay. I've never paid medical bills lol have never had that luxury.

Free clinics refuse to help my crohns symptoms......they say I need a specialist and I say I can't pay $150 or $200 and they're all PAY UP FRONT offices if you don't have insurance.

Pred? I've never been offered that....I hear it can puff your face up I don't want that, and it also makes your hair fall out and makes you sicker than you already are? I've heard so many horrible things about crohns meds....

ps.-I don't pay for the internet connection......

the side effects list does look pretty scary but I think the same can be said for all medications. Prednisolone seems to help a people quite a bit so might be worth a try. A puffed up face can be better than constant pain...

The puffiness only comes from high doses over long term use. Granted a 10 day dose from the ER most likely wont fix your problem but will make you feel better for a short time. Most of us on the forum have had to take Prednisone at some point in our lives because it does make people feel better. Entocort is the alternative to Prednisone and doesn't have those same side effects but its more expensive (generic or not). Try asking your current GI to see if they will prescribe a course of steroids to get your flare under control while your other medication tries to start actually working (if that one even works for you).
