Swallowed the pill camera today, waited the 8 hours, and I dropped off the recorder and belt at GI's office about 2.5 hours ago.Now I'm really nauseous, but can't throw up anything - just dry heaving. I also have uncontrollable diarrhea that seems to be getting worse. But my temp. is only 99.1 F.

I was a little nauseous starting about 2 hours after swallowing the capsule, but it is definitely a lot worse now than it was this morning. Had the normal crampiness and pain I experience almost every day. Started out as loose stools, but progressively became more watery with lots of mucus. My D is super urgent - I almost haven't made it a few times and the bathroom is like 10 steps away.

This is not normal for me, at least not since I've been on meds - I've actually been opposite and had constipation issues up until today. And, my doctor's office is now closed until tomorrow morning. I have not seen the capsule so I don't believe I've passed it.

What would you do? I'm not sure if I should eat something (like BRAT), or just continue to drink electrolytes, water, and broth, or go to an Urgent Care facility, or just wait it out until tomorrow...

Hi biteyshark,
Is there an emergency call number for the doctor's office? Sometimes they have a doctor on call to answer these types of concerns. I haven't had the pill camera, so I don't know what is normal. If you are concerned, go to the hospital. The worst thing that could happen is that they send you home. Good luck!

Nikki - Did they give you a patency capsule (a capsule which makes sure you can pass the camera, and which will dissolve if it gets stuck) to take to a day or 2 prior to the camera? If so, I'm assuming you passed that, correct?

If you are having D it is unlikely you are obstructed totally (total obstruction means no bm's, no wind and generally swollen abdo). I didn't pass the capsule for days and was still ok. It was just very delayed and eventually got into my colon. Try small amounts of fluids regularly and se how you go but if in doubt best to err on the side of caution and get advice.
