Hi all,

Just a quick rundown of myself. I am 26 years old, 6ft tall and only 125lbs. Crohns is not allowing me to gain any weight. I don't have flare ups very often, and sometimes have days were I frequent the bathroom, but most of the time, I only go once or twice.

I did a colonoscopy back in early 2010 which is when I was diagnosed with Crohns. The findings showed nothing in my large intestines, but the scope saw inflammation at the terminal ileum and could not continue through. The doctor told me to follow up with a CT scan, but I never did. I was very stubborn and went the holistic approach and never took any medication.

I started LDN about 6 months ago, but I am very bad with taking it at night and always forget. I even went 2-3 months without taking it. For the past month I started back up with it, and I have been good about it and continue to use it.

Fast forward until today, in the past few months I became very curious about not doing that CT scan so I scheduled a time and did it this past Wednesday. I got the results today form the online website.

Everything as far as my liver, kidneys, gallbladder, pancreas all checked out very well thankfully.

Results from Pelvis region:

Pelvis: There is no pelvic adenopathy or free fluid. There is severe wall thickening and inflammation involving the terminal ileum mildly enlarged lymph nodes are seen in the right lower quadrant which are likely reactive. Areas of wall thickening and
inflammation are also seen involving the distal jejunum. No abscesses or fistulas are identified. No acute bony abnormalities are seen.

IMPRESSION:
Prominent wall thickening and inflammation involving the distal jejunum and terminal ileum, suggestive of inflammatory bowel disease or possibly infectious enteritis.

I have a follow up with my doctor this Thursday to go over it. Do you all have any comments or suggestions for me? Any questions I should ask my doctor?

Thank you very much for your time!

Hi Youssef. I'm undiagnosed so I don't have any suggestions but wanted to ask a question if its ok? Did you have a CT just with IV contrast or was it also with the contrast that you drink?

The CT found active inflammation in the small intestine. I'm not sure about the thickening- I think it could be either inflammatory or fibrosis (which can occur in response to inflammation). What did your doctor tell you? It sounds like your Crohn's is active by CT and by the fact that you are underweight and unable to gain weight. Crohn's is pretty sneaky- you can feel reasonably ok and it can still be active/progress.

tevs:
I had to drink two bottled waters which had some dye in it an hour before they took me in. This dye was to light up my colon and intestines. Right before my scan, they injected me with an IV to insert another dye which I believe he said is to light up my arteries and such.

xmdmom:
I haven't talked my doctor yet, will be seeing him on Thursday to go over the scan. Just wanted to get thoughts on the members here and see if anyone had something similar.

I was hoping to only have inflammation in the ileum as originally detected with the colonoscopy, but seems like the lymph nodes and jejunum are also involved which has me worried.

I'm guessing that the lymph nodes may enlarge in response to the inflammation in the intestine--
