    Bad Pain after surgery

Wow it sounds like you are going through a really tough time. Firstly, it could be trapped wind from the op where they fill you up with gas but I'd be surprised if this were the case 11 weeks after the op. If it is wind then the more you move around the better. Secondly it could be pancreatitis...

    Mucus discharge soiling underwear

My mucus can be poop stained. I think what happens is that when the bag gets overful at night with output and gas excess output gets pushed down into the colon. It doesn't always happen but when it has I know its cos I've had one of those overful nights. Perhaps its old blood and pus draining...

    Resuming work with stoma

I can definitely understand your concerns Gra. I don't work outside the home anymore so can't help you with any suggestions. Are you able to go to the toilet whenever you need? If so it should be fine. Carry everything you need to change the bag and keep a spare set of clothes handy. The first...

    Diarrhoea with a stoma?

2thy I'm glad you are feeeling better now. I think amitriptyine helps me with lowering output but it could just be time. Food is the main thing to slow it down. Brat and all the rest. But I did have a huge output the other day for no particular reason. I certainly do pee more often now than in...

    Mucus discharge soiling underwear

I only have mucus once a month if that and its quite firm. I am a bit worried now I have a seton how i will pass it but I'm sure the body will figure it out. For those of you who have daily mucus was your disease in the colon and/or rectum? I'm curious whether those who have TI disease pass as...

Need liquid or chewable anti-depressant & heartburn meds

Sorry I don't know. I would assume they are absorbed directly but I'm only guessing.

    Cyst, hemorrhoids, fistula, or abscess?

Hmm, it sounds very curious. I wonder what it was, and how big it actually was beneath the lump. Was the drainage clear or discoloured? Keep us updated on what the CR says.

    Advise for Anal Abscess Newbie

Your supervisor sounds like an absolute jerk! and I'm glad you've got this forum to have a good old rant about him. How did you go with the colonoscopy?

    Old Fistula Bleeding

Haha, I can just see you with a winged pad stuck to your bottom and a tampon stuck in your stoma - I just wish I was a cartoonist!

What's the secret to healing perianal abscess?

I've just had a fistulotomy and seton inserted on Monday after doing the antibiotic thing. The antibiotics helped but the abscess came back soon after I stopped them. I developed these whilst having an ileostomy which is really unfair!!!! Hopefully the op will resolve things, I'll let you all...

Need liquid or chewable anti-depressant & heartburn meds

As long as the antidepressant or PPI isn't extended or slow release you should absorb it fine. I use pariet for heartburn and mirtazapine for depression (although I'm phasing it out for amitriptyline). Both are well absorbed by me and I have short gut syndrome - I don't see the tablets in my bag...

I can't deal with this crap (literally)

PsychoJane, I used the dermacol's with my last stoma and found them to be brilliant for stopping leaks. My stoma was kind of flat too but I found that if I just cut the plastic down to about 1mm it would still hug the stoma and stop leaks under the flange. I really wish I could use it now but...

    Anal fissures developing with ileostomy

Oh yeah, had to stop the sulfasalazine as GI thinks it is increasing my peripheral neuropathy. Am now about to try 6mp again. Its related to Imuran which gave me pancreatitis and I'm more scared of taking one tablet of it than I was about surgery on Monday. I think numb feet might be preferable...

    Diarrhoea with a stoma?

Gra it sounds like just a lot of gas for some reason - something you ate? plus a lot of bile which can be anything from yellow to greenish to even blackish (in my experience anyway). Maybe the fish was a little off? The main thing is to make sure you don't get dehydrated - follow DJW's brat diet...

    Stoma Support Group

NGNG, I settled on my brand pretty quickly although I do still have my ups and downs with it. I'm thinking of trying some other ones soon as its 10 months since my surgery and things have settled down. i initially tried everything in the first month or so and welland flair just seemed to work...

    Stoma Support Group

Hi Phoenix, Pj sums it up pretty well. Basically my GI said the rejoin is like creating a new terminal ileum so the crohn's returns there. Basically it seems to love attacking any new surgical join and this will happen with a j-pouch. they are only recommended for those with UC. coloplast seem...

Ileostomy reversal soon - what should I be expecting?

Poo Samboi! I thought you were on the road to recovery. Your bottom is far more recalcitrant than mine! I'm hoping the strain has now improved? Are you sure its not related to the mucus and blood in your D? I mean I've developed bottom disease now my TI is under control - dare I say you've...

Congratulations Crohnzie girl and welcome to the club. It seems like you are coping really well which is fantastic. Good on you. Play around with the samples you are given and get more sent out from the companies so that you can see what suits you. If you don;t have a huge output you may find...

    Anal fissures developing with ileostomy

Well I had the surgery yesterday and as per usual with me things were a bit more complex than they expected. Abscess plus fistula which tunnels off in a few directions plus the fissure where it leaks out. Surgery was scheduled for 12 noon but I ddin't go in til 4.30. I am sooo glad I had a...
